Allegedly, a Google AI engineer named Jacob Devlin warned Google against using ChatGPT data, as it would violate OpenAI's terms of service and result in answers that closely resembled OpenAI's. Devlin later left Google to join OpenAI, possibly due to these concerns. It is rumored that Google ceased using the data in question following Devlin's warnings, and may have discarded corresponding training material.
