Denmark Offers 3-Year Post-Study Visa to International Students. Denmark has recently announced an exciting opportunity for international students studying in the country. As of now, international students who complete their degree programs in Denmark will be eligible to apply for a three-year post-study visa.
This new policy offers a significant advantage for those looking to pursue their career goals after completing their studies, as it provides ample time to secure employment and gain valuable work experience in Denmark. This development is a testament to the country's commitment to attracting and retaining talented individuals from around the world, and it is sure to further enhance Denmark's reputation as a desirable destination for higher education.
Denmark is encouraging international students enrolled in its universities to remain in the country after completing their degree. These students will receive a three-year job search period post-graduation, during which they can search for employment and reside in the country without requiring an additional residence permit. Presently, fresh graduates are only permitted to remain in Denmark for two years.

Overseas Job Seekers to Benefit from Labour Shortages in Denmark
Denmark, like many other countries, is facing a significant labor shortage, and this has opened up opportunities for overseas job seekers. As the country's economy continues to grow, there is an increasing demand for skilled workers in various industries.
For those seeking employment abroad, Denmark is a promising destination offering attractive wages, excellent working conditions, and a high quality of life. With a shortage of local workers, the Danish government and businesses are actively seeking to recruit from overseas, making it an ideal time for job seekers to explore the potential opportunities available in the country.
Similar to other European countries, Denmark is also grappling with a labor shortage. In Q1 2022, 42% of Danish companies reported facing difficulties with recruitment, as per the European Commission.

To tackle the issue, Denmark updated its "Positive List for People with a Higher Education" and "Positive List for Skilled Workers" on January 1st. These lists outline professions experiencing a scarcity of workers in the country.

In case you receive a job offer that appears on these registers, you are eligible to apply for a work permit and residency in Denmark. Denmark is currently experiencing an acute shortage of professionals with a degree in science, engineering, healthcare, teaching, IT, and finance.

To be eligible for residence with a job listed in these categories, you will need to provide proof of your educational qualifications, typically a bachelor's or master's degree.

The Skilled Workers list concentrates on associate professionals and clerks in fields such as science and engineering, business and administration, bookkeeping, social care, as well as metal, machinery, building, and trades. The lists are updated twice a year, and the new regulations extend the job roles' presence on the lists to two years, as opposed to six months.

Criteria for Foreigners to Fulfill in Order to Work in Denmark
Denmark is taking steps to facilitate the employment of third-country nationals by expanding the list of job positions they can apply for and reducing the pay threshold.

The latest regulation enables non-citizens with a minimum income of DKK 375,000 (€50,344) to request work and residential licenses, which is a reduction from the present threshold of DKK 465,000 (€62,434).
To further streamline the hiring process, Danish companies can now apply for fast-track certification, allowing for quicker processing of work permits and more flexible employee terms. Previously, companies needed 20 full-time employees to apply, but under the new amendments, this requirement has been lowered to 10 employees, making the scheme accessible to more companies.

Denmark is also broadening its start-up scheme for third-country nationals, extending eligibility to those who already own a business in the country or want to establish a branch in Denmark, as opposed to just entrepreneurs hoping to establish a new business. Starting from April 1st, these modifications will take effect.

How easy is it to obtain study visa/residence permit in this country? It appears Nigerians aren't looking towards Denmark in their Japa quest.
