Either way Oba doesn’t seem terribly out-of-place for Awka. Nnewi, maybe, but Awka’s a very centralised, cool kind of place where different cultures abound, even if the main one does tend to be Anambra Igbo. It’s a little mixed.

Very true, because others have Seriki and Eze does not mean Yoruba traditional culture of Oba coronation should be bestowed outside. Even Oba that bestowed Chieftaincy outside Yorubaland have been criticized.

My own humble opinion, which matters less, is that Yoruba in Diaspora such as Cuba, Brazil or Trinidad that can trace their ruling houses to high Chiefs should be able to acquire such.

Moreover, there are Indigenous Yoruba or Bini in Igboland including Onitsha (called YorubaIgbo). There are no such Indigenous Igbo in Yorubaland. Of all the ethnic group from the East, Igbo are the last to come in the 20th Century.

For peace sake if you want traditional title, go home and trace your ruling line. Do not compete with your hosts whether Yoruba, Hausa or Igbo. 419, ritual and drug money have devalued culture.
