What better way to add natural charm to a home than with natural oak wood flooring? It not only provides durability and strength, but it also provides the tactile sensation that only natural wood texture can offer. Oak flooring is crafted using wood from the Oak tree species, and its natural beauty is accentuated by a clear UV lacquer finish. The wood is brushed to enhance its natural grain structure, providing an authentic look and feel.
This flooring option's timeless elegance complements both contemporary and traditional spaces, adding warmth and sophistication to any home or commercial setting. While Oak flooring typically features a light brown colour with hints of golden and blonde tones, the natural product may have slight colour variations. This flooring option is perfect for homes with a classic yet refined aesthetic.
Tips for Maintaining Natural Flooring
The floor is the best place to start when designing a beautiful home. Nothing beats natural oak-engineered flooring when it comes to adding warmth and elegance. It not only improves the appearance of a home but also adds a touch of luxury to it. While it is natural for oak floors to show signs of wear over time, by taking a few precautions and following regular maintenance routines, you can expect your floor to last for years.
Daily Routine and Maintenance
Follow this routine to maintain oak floor for the beautiful look.
• Vacuum, sweep, or mop your floor at least once a week, or more frequently if needed, using a brush or felt vacuum head with a wand attachment. Avoid using vacuums with beater bars or hard heads as they can damage the floor.
• Use a swivel-head mop with a terry cloth cover and a hardwood spray cleaner to clean the floor thoroughly. Spray the cleaner directly on the floor or dampen the mop and apply it.
• Immediately clean up spills and tracked-in dirt with a clean cloth and hardwood spray cleaner.
• Place interior and exterior doormats at all entrances to collect dirt and moisture and prevent it from being tracked onto the floor.
• Never use water or a wet mop to clean the floor as it can permanently damage the wood.
• Use area rugs in high-traffic areas and in front of kitchen sinks. Ensure the rugs are made of breathable materials to prevent moisture entrapment and avoid using rugs with solid rubber or vinyl backings.
• Keep animal nails trimmed to prevent scratches.
• Avoid using ammonia-based cleaners, wax-based products, acrylic finishes, bleach, oil soap, polishes, abrasive cleaning soaps, or acidic materials such as vinegar as they can damage the floor's finish.
• Do not wear shoes with heel taps or sharp objects protruding from the sole, such as rocks, nails, or gravel on the floor.
• Avoid rolling or sliding heavy objects directly on the floor. Consider using a solid protective covering and gently 'walking' the item across it when moving heavy furniture or appliances.
• Do not wear spiked or stiletto-heeled shoes on wood floors. Proper maintenance of spike or stiletto high heels is required to avoid damage from the steel heel support.
• Use wide rubber rollers instead of hard, narrow furniture rollers.
• Use furniture leg protector pads under all furniture and keep them clean and in good condition.
• Avoid using a steam mop on the floor as it can damage the wood.
• Keep direct sunlight off the floor by using curtains and UV-resistant film on large glass doors and windows. Exposure to direct sunlight can cause colour and shape variations on the floor.
