Anambra woman repatriated from Delta for constituting nuisance by begging on the streets of Asaba

Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Hon Ify Obinabo, has cautioned a woman repatriated by the Delta State Government, for begging, to desist forthwith or face law.

A press release issued on Friday, April 7, 2023, by the media aide to the Commissioner, Chidimma Ikeanyionwu, said the the 32-year-old mother of one identified as Ogochukwu Nwabude, was sent back to Anambra State for constituting nuisance by begging on the streets of Asaba.

According to the release, the woman who hails from Nnewi, was caught begging at Interbua roundabout in Asaba.

In her reaction, Mrs. Obinabo, who did not spare the repatriated beggar, frowned at the act but encouraged her to be an agent of change by engaging in a trade in order to fend for herself and her child.

The Commissioner went further to empower her with a little token to help her start up a business of her choice but warned that if caught again, she will be taken to court and face the law.

On her part, the repatriated woman said that she only engaged in the act for two weeks before she was captured by the Delta State Government and repatriated to Anambra.

She promised not to engage in such and pledged to make good use of the empowerment.

She was later handed over to the Uruagu Woman leader in Nnewi, who will be monitoring her progress and as well report back to the ministry.

You called it repartration in order to incite against her host but the victims of the nuisance are better returning her to her people safely. Charity begins at home and if she is ill trained she is back home to recieve proper training.

Stay back in your village if you willl be a nuisance to your host. That is the message I want you to take home.

LASG can take a cue from this action too. Any non Lagosian that left his or her village to Lagos to constitutie nuisance here in Lagos should be helped back to his or her state and handed over to their state govt.
