Why Enyeama Was Excluded - Eagles Spokesman by OAM4J: 2:09am On Sep 21, 2011
Eagles spokesman opens up on Enyeama

Worried about the misgivings or misinformation that may arise following the exclusion of Vincent Enyeama from the Eagles next two matches, team spokesman Collin Udoh wrote to put the facts straight this way:

To recap, after the team’s training session on the day of departure for Madagascar, Enyeama and Mikel expressed concerns about the team’s flight arrangements, saying they would have preferred a bigger plane which would have no need to stop over and refuel.

Siasia listened to them, then asked them if they wanted the team to change travel plans. Both players said no, that they were only expressing their feelings and that of other teammates who were not confident enough to speak out.

Siasia then informed them that arrangements had been made already and the team would fly out as scheduled.

At the time of depparture, both players, along with Mikel’s room mate Victor Anichebe, were nowhere to be found.

After waiting nearly half an hour, the coach directed the bus to leave without them, including assistant coach Simon Kalika who was trying to talk the players down.

Eventually, they joined the rest of the squad at the airport and flew to Madagascar.

At Antananarivo, Siasia then called a meeting to resolve the issue.

And this is where the current troubles stem from.

During that meeting, Siasia laid into Mikel, then Anichebe and the Enyeama.

Enyeama took exception to being singled out as the instigator, and being told that not only did he report late to camp, he had also been stirring trouble.

He protested. Vehemently.

According to him, he was the one playing peacemaker and he definitely hadnt been causing any trouble since he came in. Officials present, including NFF Executive Committee member Christopher Green, were displeased at the tone of his language in addressing the coach, especially in front of the group.

Long and short of this is, Green, the coach and his crew felt Enyeama’s tone was rude and insulting.

Enyeama, on the hand, believed he was just being honest and talking straight.

A decision was taken to leave him out of the match day squad unless he apologised to the coach. He did not, and he was left out.

The understanding was that he would then be restored for the game against Argentina.

However, the night after the Madagascar game, as the team prepared to leave for Bangladesh, Enyeama appproached the coach asking for permission to return to his club. It was a request that caught officials by surprise. Siasia was not happy about the player’s decision to leave, but granted him permission in order not to cause a fracture in team spirit that having a disgruntled player might cause.

Green made it clear the matter had gone beyond Siasia and would be taken up by the NFF, as he was present through the entire episode.

Last week, Vincent did the right and honourable thing, by tendering a public apology, in which he stated that he would call the coach to personally appologise. Sadly, that call did not come through.

I was told that up until the list was sent to the Technical Committee, if the coach had received a call from Vincent, he would have been included in the squad.

That, my friends, is the true, albeit abridged, situation.”

He better not ruin his career with stupidity. From Tel Aviv to Lille is some good career progression and now that he should be reinforcing his position, he is gradually giving-up his position and affection he enjoys from most Nigerians with indiscipline and foolishness. When you address your boss, especially one who is not in position by "connection", he will appreciate your opinion if you communicate it appropriately not in a condescending and insulting manner. He better sit up because one thing about Nigeria is that there will always be someone else to replace you as keeper or in any position!

If this is the whole truth and nothing but the truth, then Enyeama deserves to be left out. angry angry

In an environment where manner and discipline are the order of the day, it will take a man of courage
and good will to instil them back to the people.
Siasia has been trying to make the players realise that as a team, you do thing together.
You do not for the coach rather the coach the coach decide for you.
what makes a player think he is more important or a mouth piece for the players when there is a captain.
It is then an ego-trip and nothing else.
No matter how you look at it, ''never you fight your master otherwise you bear the consequences that follows''.

What is Enyeama's concern if the plane stops for refuelling or not?

Nigerian players are the most compensated national team. many African countries do not pay half of what they collect as match bonuses.

If Enyeama feels he is too big for the Super Eagles, he should get the f, uck out of the team. There are thousands of goalkeepers who will prove themselves adequately.

What the team needs is a high level of discipline. Gone were the days of eguavon, christian chukwu, and amodu, whereby these guys behave anyhow. Yes of course, i know that kudos be given to them for putting in some effort in playing for the team, but then, respect and regard for the coach and amongst themselves is of utmost importance for the team to be formidable. If sacrifices are to made in order to make this possible, then so be it, Nigeria is a country blessed with abundance of talent, we definitely cannot affort to allow one or more players hold the nation to ransome.

It think SiaSia is doing his best to stamp out dis attitude of "do as i want" in the national team,if we must build a formidable team, the watchward is DISCIPLINE, gone are those days when players stroll into camp few hours b4 kickoff and smile into the dressing room 4rm dia to the starting 11, no player can hold Nigerian football to ransom, UNGRATEFUL IDIOTS, witout Nigeria who wud hav know Enyeama??he shud Bleep off, i can even be the goalie if Aiyenugba&co messes up wink

While one might applaud Siasia's effort to instil discipline in the National team, He must not cut the nose to spite the face.

The last match against Argentina showed that Enyeama is our best hand within the sticks. I Hope that we will not stumble against guinea in a bid to deal with few players. Let us not forget that Siasia himself was not a saint during his playing days and contributed to the problems Yekini had in the then Super Eagles.

He should apply wisdom o.

Where there is no discipline, anarchy will be the order of the day. Enyeama's exclusion from the list will serve as a lesson for other players who think Nigeria will not do without them.

Enyema, I think you did wrong by your attitude. Same way Yakubu felt that we Nigerians were nothing when he was interviewed and he was asked if he got any remorse for the goal he missed against Argentina. He said that he has no regret and got no apology for that miss.
Where is he today after that comment? Enyema, try to behave because your Country is bigger than you and Siasia has been there before you and has seen it all.

Be Careful because those who fly to high don't last long but those who fly low, stay to live long.

Its more than just indisicpline. Under the last NFA/NFF leadership, it was clearly the folks in glass house, who thought of changing the name from NFA to NFF as an accomplishment.

Look at the way we decide to hire Oyibo coaches a few months prior to the WORLD CUP for a record fee, while the world laughs at us and reinstates their belief that blacks are mumu.

Yes, Enyeama erred, and its good that he has been excluded from the next matches, but lets not be silly, he is one of the better players and should be brought back.

So far, not too impressed with the Siaone team selection, friendly match fixtures, and ANC qualifiers

LIE! Ican vouch for Enyeama till eternity, do not let us compare him to Ayegbeni or agali. Even in the days of Vogts, enyeama was always present even when he was never used. What do they need after an unreserved apology? Siasia is afraid of NEMESIS cos he was also part of the unpopular MAFIA of those days. Thats why he is always on big players' necks whenever they err.

You are not correct at all, Siasia was never a part of the mafia, in fact he was a chief victim of the of the set up then.
