Recall earlier this month that seplat is about to also complete her $700million gas project also in Imo state. Shell also will complete her $3. 5billion (this is more than N2trillion naira investment opening in Imo state in few months, this amount is more than Lagos state 2023 annual budget, it's huge) gas project in same Imo state soon. This is going to frog leap the economy of Imo state rapidly as these project are going to skyrocket this GDP of the state and revenue of the state. It will also create massive employment.
ANOH in Imo state Gas holds the most abundant gas deposit in Africa. Many companies are moving into Imo state to invest in the gas deposit. Imo state is about to witness serious economic turnaround and they need a responsible government to be able to convert these gains into dividends of democracy

Aba city gas plant
Shells has completed a multimillion dollars gas plant in the city of Aba abia state. The plant will be directly supplied with natural gas from Imo state. As Geometric power by Barth Nnaji has won in court over EEDC to be the sole supplier of electricity in Abia state (Now Aba electricity distribution company), they have stated partnering with shell to ensure supply of gas from Aba city plant to drive industrial and economic activities in southeast. Alex Otti also mentioned that he will be working with Geometic power to endure that Aba city gets 24hrs electricity. Aba is going to become a manufacturing hub because this will put the city as topmost priority for investors. Alex Otti needs to get this right. The ANOH shell gas plant is capable of producing 2.Gw of electricity (about 500 times the capacity Nigeria is producing today).

Gas is the future of Nigeria with respect to electricity production and southeast has the largest Gas deposit, its the revolution and the economic boost that will drive investors to southeast. You need to make sure that you keep electing credible govenors that will tap into the potential. In another 20years, our effort to remove thieves from the seats would have paid off. If Nigeria must survive, it will need southeast gas to produce energy and southeast needs to take that as an opportunity to develop fast. Southeast should learn from the mistakes of southsouth. For may years, Delta state has nothing to show for all the huge revenue from oil.
SouthEast is about to experience an industrial miracle. Even NNPC knows this.

Anyone in the gas industry to crunch the numbers for us? I’m just concerned with what exactly Imo will receive in its coffers by way of naira and kobo…..or dollars even!

it's beyond what Imo state is going to receive. This is going to revitalize the whole onne-Eleme-Aba-owerri axis in terms of economy.

The privately owned Aba geometric power plant already already has about 1,500mw of installed power capacity in Aba city alone, this power will be too much for only Aba city to consume. It that if every goes as planned and with thr decentralization of power distribution, Aba is sure to get 24hrs power supply. It will drive an industrial revolution within and around Aba. Shells already has a mega gas plant in Aba to power all these power stations. Manufacturers will always want to make Aba their priority destination when setting up facilities, with efforts of government to improve the infrastructure and security, this is because of Aba's proximity to the gas plants in Imo with a 20km pipe suppling to shells facility in Aba and Onne port.

Thr owerri axis is going to experience a lot of investments as well. The GDP and income level of Imo people will skyrocket immediately these plants start operations. Businesses will thrive and the government will get more revenue. More business will come to owerri because more money will be in owerri, likewise Aba.

Onne axis is going to come alive as well as industries in Aba state patronizing the port frequently

Nice one! But all these are the business benefits of the gas plants….they will enhance ease of doing business in the state in particular and the region in general.

What i was referring to was, who takes the money for the gas being exploited and sold to these coys or individuals…how is it shared? With regards to oyel, we can say so so and so number of barrels were sold in a given period and states get 13% derivation based on the number of wells they have and their production levels. Something like this is what i’d like to know for Imo….what is Abuja allowing the state to keep from proceeds of the gas exploited from the state!? If nobody is asking this pertinent question, then it leaves room for the federal gov’t to cheat gas states! If there isn’t such a sharing formula, then let’s know there isn’t one and Abuja is taking everything!

Of course, 13% derivative is for oil and gas resource.

Imo State will take 13% of the revenue. Imo state is going to be an extremely rich state soon. IMO and Abia state GDPs are going to the moon as well.
