Always perform all necessary tests before una build na. How can you buy lands billions per SQ meter and can't or rather refuse to conduct integrity tests at every level of your building.

Do people bother to ask about how integrity tests applies and matters to construction projects especially in high rising buildings at all?

If we say that as a society all buildings from certain heights must have integrity tests at every levels, are these tests not supposed to be scrutinized by the governing authorities from before and during building processes ?

And to think it's Banana island, written about on Wikipedia as the home to Nigeria's brightest minds and the cream of the society, yet in such quintessential issues fail woefully ?

How can Africa be ever redeemed how?

From the pictures, it's clear to see that it's yet again Chinese building technology.

I've always maintained that I don't trust modern Chinese architecture that focuses on material and cost reduction over safety concerns. No be me go stay for those buildings that looks like houses constructed over bamboo sticks

The collapse is appalling!

Look how a multistorey building turned to something resembling a heap of sand!

Are there any rebars in that building at all?

Chinese architecture technology is mediocre. Americans aren't daft to incorporate heavy pillage in their building constructions

Just look at the weight sitting on those so-called misplaced pillars.
You will know that know that ithe building /drawing plans where not professionally checked/ approved.
If checked and approved then the oga that gives approvals need to be questioned

They brag living in Banana Island but turning Nigeria to Banana Republic.

Not the billionaires bt the engineers or architect whoever is supervising the constructions. The investor or owner may have paid enough money bt they comprise the the building specifications.

This may be due to unstable ground. They supposed not to erect up to such storeys in such environment.

Even if..., the type of foundation to be used supposed to be specially constructed.

The deeds has been done, but maybe for future purposes. Thanks.

May God deliver those that were trapped. Amen.

Have you been to banana island??

If you have, you will know that there's nothing like unstable ground....

Sujimoto has high rise buildings inside there that has been erected for over 5years and nothing like unstable ground affects it...

I'm Civil Engineering Technology graduate, I can't give you clearly what could b d caused of d building failure. Don't be surprised d project was controlled by non professional . There could b many causes, it could be due to poor structural design, load placing, soil bearing capacity, differential settlement, workers negligence, Non material test, poor method of construction, etc. However, everything still balls down to d construction company or Civil Engineer in charged. May God protect anyone who could be inside d rubble. Pls endeavor to go for a qualify Engineer not quacks when it comes to construction
