As Muslims across Nigeria and the world celebrate Eid Ul Fitr, Serving Senator of the Imo West Senatorial District and frontline aspirant in a bid for the Senate President of the 10th Assembly, Distinguished Senator Osita Izunaso, has commemorated with the Muslim community, calling for peace and oneness in the country.

The Eid Ul Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, during which Muslims fast and engage in acts of worship and charity.

In his message, the former National Organizing Secretary of the ruling, All Progressives Congress, Senator Osita Izunaso emphasized the importance of peace and unity in Nigeria, particularly at a time when the country is grappling with various challenges.

The Senator highlighted that “Eid Ul Fitr provides an opportunity for people of all faiths to come together and reflect on the need for inter-religious harmony and tolerance.”

“Nigeria is a diverse country with people from various ethnic and religious backgrounds, with our uncommon diversity, we should be celebrated rather than used as a source of division," Osita said.

He urged Nigerians to embrace each other's differences and work together towards a common goal of national unity and development.

The Senator also stressed the significance of religious leaders to foster peace and unity in Nigeria.

According to him “I called on Muslim leaders to continue to preach the message of peace and tolerance, and to use their platforms to promote inter-faith dialogue and understanding.”

He urged the government to prioritize its efforts toward promoting peace and security in the country. The senator emphasized that “without peace, there can be no meaningful development, and that it is the responsibility of the government to ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians.”

“The occasion of Eid Ul Fitr is a reminder of the need for peace and unity in Nigeria. It also calls for all Nigerians to embrace each other's differences and work together towards a common goal of national development,” Osita said.
