Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) Chairman Abike Dabiri-Erewa reports that the organization is putting plans in place to evacuate Nigerians from Sudan.

She clarified, however, that no flights could possibly depart at this time.

This information can be found in a statement made by Gabriel Odu, of the NIDCOM's media, public relations, and protocols unit in Abuja.

According to Dabiri-Erewa, plans for the evacuation of students and nationals stuck in Sudan have been made by the Nigerian Mission in Sudan and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

She claimed that it was "risky and impossible for any flights at this point in time" due to the difficult circumstances in Sudan.

She claimed that burning aircraft were parked at the airport.

She added that organizations working in the humanitarian sector were looking for ways to bring food, water, and medical supplies to people.

She urged the combatants to take into account the Juba Peace Agreement issued by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

She claimed that the accord was an essential tool for bringing back the nation's peace and calm.

The deal is a stage in the Sudanese peace process, which attempts to bring stability and peace to the country after years of protracted civil wars that have resulted in more than 300,000 fatalities and more than 2.5 million displaced persons.

On separate occasions on Thursday, the Sudanese military and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) declared a 24-hour ceasefire, although fighting persisted after that time.

On Saturday morning, the intensity apparently greatly decreased.

The continuous armed confrontation is between opposing groups of Sudan's military administration.

Clashes started on April 15, 2023, mostly in the Darfur region and the nation's capital city of Khartoum.

Fighting has gotten worse near hospitals and the airport in the capital, which has made it difficult to evacuate injured people and treat them.

There have been countless injuries. Power outages and food shortages are other issues that affect the general populace.

Additionally, UN aid efforts have been suspended.
