The Lagos State Building Control Agency on Wednesday began the demolition of illegal buildings on the Banana Island area of Lagos State.

The PUNCH reports that LAGOS State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu ordered the demolition of three two-storey buildings on Banana Island following the collapse of a seven-storey building in the area.

The agency made this known in a post shared on its Twitter handle on Wednesday and wrote, "Banana Island: LASBCA Begins Removal of Illegal Structures."

Good move !

The building material markets need to be regulated too..
If possible there should be an agency that supervises all building projects… both government & private

What was the government doing when those buildings they're demolishing now were being erected up to this level. Now someone is taking a huge loss that could have been averted

It takes months of planning, architecture, plenty resources, money, over hundred hours of human labor to build a house.

But only takes 5 mins to destroy it all

This life is really funny

Yehn yehn..

Wait for the flury of lawsuits...

Do they really want us to believe that in highbrow area like Banana island that someone actually put on a foundation of a house without the authorities coming to ask them for their approval

Even for those of us in trenches... try mend your fence, or add one more room to your 2 bedroom, they will appear from no where for you to come to office..

Now they are just trying to save face...

I was about typing to show pity to the Property owners considering the Chunk of money already gone into these Structures before this demolition.

On a second thought, It just occurred to me that any body that can afford a square metre in B-Island is already a "mega Man"

Tinubu's Lagos has illegal structures?
If this can happen in highbrow area like Banana island, I wonder the level of illegal structures that will scatter in mainland area.

Remember Lagos budget is 5times that of Anambra but not in development as there is absolutely nothing to show for the high
Budget
IGR
Loan Lagos Government brag with.

High IGR, low development =clear sign of corruption

This is not high rise building na. So what is the problem with a storey building? Someone said and I quote 50% will sort, 30% will make phone calls and 20% will suffer the disastrous act.

Of which if the govt is active that building will never get to raft piling moreof foundation.

Dcaliphate:
What

They are the wicked Govt.

was the government doing when those buildings they're demolishing now were being erected up to this level. Now someone is taking a huge loss that could have been averted

maasoap:

Government must be aware of all illegal structures being constructed throughout the state as soon as first digging is made!

You meant someone who could have killed a lots of people as a result of illegal structure?

Because illegal one story buildings can't collapse, right?

Mugu, No go find something doing today.

Human beings! Now that government are being proactive and waking up to her responsibility to prevent loss of lives, it has automatically become a wicked Govt!
