Omoluabi on the move

Why did you fail to ask how many ọmọlúwàbís are being moved daily by the light rail that Buhari commissioned some months ago?

Do ọmọlúwàbís hail new promises if those in charge have failed to deliver old and related ones

Reason the things well o.

Give kudos to the president for decentralized power, if not, they wouldn't have got that authority to have their separate power.

There is no kudos to be given to Buhari because he could have done this in his first months in power not the last months after 8 years.

Where would we be now had Buhari done this and many other acts of restructuring, as priority, in his first year as President?

What this teaches us is that we must not settle and begin thanking leaders for crumbs they throw us from their table. We must be excellent followers who will make demand of Tinubu relentlessly rather than sit back to accept whatever the government does or does not do.

This is the right step in the right direction.

If these things were in place, Nigerians would have been enjoying 24/7 electricity without interruption.

In the US, every state has a power company that supplies electricity to the state and sells excess to any neighboring states that need it.

I repeat this is the right step in the right direction. This is the first time they have put their heads together and come out with something good.
Same as in Canada. Each province are developing independently and all have their own power company. Some even have multiple private power company within their provinces.

Posted months ago...great to see this article in the works

*AGENDA for South West*

Lagos State remains the state with the largest IGR (40% of national IGR). Lagos is limited with its landmass, and is limited by the level of incursion into the Atlanta Ocean. The expansion of Lagos into Epe and Badagry is great...but the soil is not conducive for further expansion.

What the South West need is a concept similar to Odua Investments.

The Fed Govt/Buhari signed independent power generation by states. Lagos should invest in a massive energy generation using Dangote Refinery to supply SW States.

Lagos can also invest in Housing Estates in Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo where Lagos workers can buy affordable properties on credit. It will boost the IGR of Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo and with the rail system, workers can work in Lagos and live outside of Lagos. BRT Buses can transport workers from Ondo and Osun to Lagos. This is not a new model. They are practiced all over the world. People like in Long Island, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and work in NYC. The same is true in the UK. People live outside London and work in London.

The same can be done in the Health Sector. All of these will reduce congestion experienced in Lagos and move the population density to neighboring states. Oyo and Ogun do not have the needed IGR to expand, so a Lagos partnership is important.

Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ogun can also become agricultural centers...and with Lagos building the largest storage center in Africa or West Africa, goods can be moved daily to Lagos for certification and export. The next 4yrs if well planned can usher a new Era for South West. Similar models can be created in all 6 geopolitical zones. A greater Nigeria is possible...God Bless the President-Elect, God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Thank you

*My personal reflection - Mr. Ogunsile*

South West ready to move at a faster train, other regions should follow suit and some people should laying claimed to what didn't belong to them. All Oil producing states are collecting 13% Derivation from Federal Government,if your governor's are using it wisely, hold them responsible, some state should not vexed their angers on Lagos. SOUTH WEST ON YOUR MARK, GET SET GO!!!

contribution as how , do you know how much oil mobile drills a day. Multiply for example 300,000 barrel × $80 * 365days. You are getting in tune of $6b. How much revenue are they making in Lagos?

Resource Control for South South, please. Hope the South South Governors take note. We have to take control of our resources to develop our region.

Any oil company not paying taxes to South South should be booted out of the region. Let them go drill their oil wherever they are paying their taxes to.

Any banks, companies etc operating in your region and not paying taxes should be booted out too. Priorities should be given to regional companies, banks etc etc. let’s all develop all region.

I ❤️ restructuring.
Corporates pay CIT to Federal government while the PIT of their employees are paid to the various state governments.

Just so you know most oil workers are based in Rivers state. You need to ask the SS governors what they use the Taxes collected for.

Oil revenue goes to FG bucket which is then shared across all states.

You need to research more... lol

You continue to argue ignorantly and foolishly
There is no company tax implication based on headquarters location
Corporate tax is paid to the federation account subject to 13% derivation and the national revenue sharing formula.
You just have hatred for Lagos but your assumptions are wrong. Unlearn them and update your knowledge.
Only Mobil workers living in Lagos pay tax to LASG

Will they drill on weekends too?On public holidays? Days of unrest in the Niger Delta?
Oil distribution is throughout the country and they have investments besides oil rigs.Check the attached to have an idea.

Since the days of Victor Attah of Akwa Ibom who fought federal government on the issue of onshore/offshore dichotomy and won, SS governors have lacked guts! If not for Attah, Akwa Ibom won't have been oil rich as most of its oil is offshore and federal government would have taken the derivation 100%.

Wike that should have fought for our collective interest, decided to play selfish politics.

How can oil be in our region yet tax is being paid in Lagos? Is that not madness?

From the attached, oil drilled by Mobil in 2021 is 127k barrels.
So far they operate in Lagos, it's not out of place if they have their headquarters there.
Look at it holistically, don't be sentimental.

Stop talking nonsense
Withholding tax is just a tax payment in advance.
At the end of the tax year you either pay the balance if underpaid or get a refund if overpaid. It is not a special kind of tax. It is a METHOD of tax collection. To ensure government gets paid and people do not struggle if they have to pay everything at the end of the year at once
Withholding method can be used to collect any kind of tax or debt
e.g VAT,PAYE,Corporate Tax ,pension contributions etc
Oil companies are not engaged in activities that warrant stamp duty
They are paid in dollars abroad. Stamp duty does not apply
Stamp duty is paid to FIRS FEDERAL not Lagos state

The only tax they pay in Lagos is PAYE for ONLY workers living in Lagos state
Most oil industry workers do not work at the headquarters

you're the sentimental person here, mobile pbd is even more 500k , you haven't even added condensate and gas. how much is GDP of Lagos if mobile investment in Lagos is close $5b

Regional government may be the best for Nigeria, set up the regions to compete against each other

They won't do that, because, with this arrangement, they don't have to work or exploit their own resources to develop their zones, but rather exploit the oil in SS without regards to whether people are suffering there or not. But blaming them is not good enough. The biggest portion of the blame goes to leaders in the SS/SE for not at least using those God given resources to develop those areas.
