The heart is a vital organ in the human body that is responsible for pumping blood throughout the body. It is a muscular organ that is located in the chest and is roughly the size of a fist. The heart pumps blood through a complex system of blood vessels that make up the circulatory system. In this article, we will discuss the way the heart pumps blood. The heart is divided into four chambers: the right atrium, the right ventricle, the left atrium, and the left ventricle. The right atrium receives deoxygenated blood from the body and pumps it into the right ventricle. The right ventricle then pumps the deoxygenated blood to the lungs, where it is oxygenated. The oxygenated blood then returns to the heart through the left atrium, which pumps it into the left ventricle. The left ventricle then pumps the oxygenated blood out of the heart and into the body. The heart pumps blood through a series of contractions and relaxations. The contraction of the heart is called systole, and the relaxation is called diastole. During systole, the heart muscle contracts, and blood is pumped out of the heart. During diastole, the heart muscle relaxes, and blood flows into the heart. The heart is controlled by a complex system of electrical impulses that originate in the sinoatrial node (SA node). The SA node is located in the right atrium and is known as the natural pacemaker of the heart. The electrical impulses from the SA node cause the atria to contract, which pumps blood into the ventricles. The electrical impulses then travel to the atrioventricular node (AV node), which is located between the atria and the ventricles. The AV node delays the electrical impulses for a short period, allowing the ventricles to fill with blood before they contract. The heart pumps blood at a rate that is determined by a person's age, fitness level, and overall health. The average resting heart rate for adults is between 60 and 100 beats per minute.
