Good Works Can Never Earn You God's Kingdom by FreedomfromtheT: 9:13pm On Apr 30, 2023
Some religious groups teach their adherents that they have to practice good works to earn God's kingdom after death.
Unfortunately, they are sincerely wrong.
The reason is because everyone was born a sinner and sin and good works cannot go pari pasu.
Of course, a born again child of God must practice good works but it is not the good works that saves or earns him/her eternal life.
One must first be saved from sin and obtain the certificate to God's kingdom before his/her good works can count, not for salvation, but for reward.
Doing good to others is commendable but basing it as a yardstick to earn eternal life is akin to banking on sinking sand.
If it were possible for us to earn God's kingdom by our personal efforts and the works of our hands, Christ wouldn't have come to die for our sins.
It is because no one can save himself that prompted the Saviour to come.
Salvation is not by works but by grace.
Don't be deceived.

1. This gobbledygook aside, are you insinuating that Jesus Christ lied when He explained that He would judge the sheep and goats in His Kingdom solely on the good works when He returns -- Matthew 25 vs 31 - 46? undecided

Are you in fact directly countering Jesus Christ's own judgment to claim, proclaiming that His Gospel violates your petty interpretations and is hence unrighteous? undecided

You either lack comprehensive understanding of the Scriptures or simply being Pharisiac.
The righteous who will be rewarded are the saved who demonstrate such through their good works after salvation.
The sinners who will be punished are those who are not saved as at death and as such lack the commensurate heaven-made righteousness to prove such while still on the earth.

1. So, are you insinuating that the salvation offered by Jesus Christ in John 3 vs 1 - 21 is not a valid form of salvation then since you make it seem that only those who are righteous are saved? undecided

2. According to Jesus Christ, it is impossible for anyone to gain access to the Kingdom of God without first being born again, a form of salvation offered by Jesus Christ. So, are you suggesting that some who died before being born-again will end up in the Kingdom of God anyways, against Jesus Christ? undecided

You can't be saved without living a righteous life.
Such is fake salvation, perhaps the one you claim to possess.
Being born again and being saved from sin are synonyms.
Before Christ, there were saved or born again people called old Testament saints. People like Abel, Enock, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph and Moses.
That the term had not been introduced then doesn't change their real experience and status.
However, the old Testament saints were still in Abraham's bosom until Christ went there to set them free.

1. Yes, you can! There is no such thing as fake salvation. There are fake claims of salvation which is typical with those who don't even have a clue what it means to be saved, to begin with, but there is no such thing as fake salvation. undecided

2. Therein lies the problem. In the entire context of the conversation, Jesus Christ had with Nicodemus on what it means to be born-again— John 3 vs 1 - 21—, not even once did Jesus Christ mentions the idea of being free from sin or that one's sins are absolved, yet most in Christendom consume this delusion that being born again is synonymous with being saved from sin, why? There is also no mention of the word "Holy" in the context of that entire conversation, so where do people get about associating the Holy Spirit with the process? Well, it turns out most people don't desire truth though they pretend it is what they want. undecided

To be born again, as Jesus Christ explained means to be born of water and born of Spirit in order to gain access to the Kingdom of God. Those who are born again are sinners and their sins remain on them after they are born again since Jesus Christ never said their sins would be automagically wiped away from them nor did He suggest they are made holy by the process. So, first, correct this error here to get yourself matching in the right direction as far as the salvation Jesus Christ has for those who choose Him. undecided

3. I am afraid you miss the point of the difference between the Old and the New here. The people of Old were not "born-again" in this life as they had to first die before they could be born of the spirit of Eternal life in the grave. In order for that to happen though, they were first required to attain holiness and God's righteousness after which God then rewarded them with Life in the grave. If you read Ezekiel 18 vs 1 - 32 & Ezekiel 33 vs 10 - 20 you get an idea of this. Eternal life only came to them after death, not before.

However, in Jesus Christ, eternal life comes to the sinners in this life— born-again—, after which they then either proceed to either seek first the Kingdom of God(holiness), and God's righteousness or choose to continue in their sins. undecided

4. Abraham's bosom is a reference to the grave. And only the righteous men of Old were awarded Life in the grave that is still in the grave. The others simply ceased to exist after death. undecided

You are a deluded false teacher.
To be born again is to repent from sin and receive a new life through faith in Christ.
People who claim to be born again but are still living in sin are deceived by Satan and are deceiving themselves.
They will soon find out when they breathe their last and find themselves in hell's torment for all eternity!

1. So exactly where in scripture did Jesus Christ, the one who is recorded to use this term , born-again, in scripture, state what you claim in bold? undecided

2. So you shouldn't have a hard time pointing out exactly where in scripture Jesus Christ, the one who use the term born again stated that to be born-again yet choosing to live in sin means one is deceived of Satan? undecided

@FreedomfromtheT - friend, you are spot on... Praise GOD! "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." - Ephesians 2:8-10

The "user" you are debating does not appear to understand the Gospel of CHRIST, or perhaps he deliberately intends to oppose and confuse folks... or perhaps he/it is even a bot!

GOD knows, GOD sees... GOD is the Judge! (Psalm 7:11, Psalm 75:7)

You say this as you AVOID posting directly from the Gospel teachings of Jesus Christ yourself. grin

LOL... see wetin religion don do people head abeg!

Jesus Christ, God's Truth, and God's Eternal Life, and God's Way offered two salvations

Salvation from the condemnation of Sin which is Death - John 3 vs 1 - 21 by which He gifts those who obey with Eternal Life aka grace in place of the curse of Death which was previously upon such a one. As it states, this salvation is eternal in origin meaning one is incapable of losing it. In other words, once one gains access to the Kingdom of God — either through the broad gate or the narrow gate described in Matthew 7 vs 13 - 14 — by way of the Spirit of Eternal life, there is no going back after that. The individual becomes eternally bound to the Kingdom of God for better(eternal reward) or for worse(eternal damnation) - Matthew 25 vs 31 - 46 .

Salvation from Sin unto everlasting Righteousness - Matthew 10 vs 22 & Matthew 24 vs 12- 13 & Mark 13 vs 13 - by which one is then sealed by the Spirit of God aka the Spirit of Truth in righteousness. As Jesus Christ made clear in His Gospels, it is only those who stand faithful — living in continuous submission and obedience to His teachings and commandments, God's Truth — until the end, that will be saved in this manner. Those who fall by the way before the end will have themselves to blame. undecided

Both salvation are genuine, and you cannot have the second without the first. Also, you cannot have Heaven without both. undecided
