5,000 megawatts for a population of 180 million.
How much is southafrica generating with lesser population?

If we are to take into consideration that Nigerians contribute to buy and maintain transformers, eletric poles, wires that ought to be the responsibilty of DISCOS, it is not the cheapest.

South Africa pays higher and more than we do

And even then they are having routine blackouts now..

Also SA has nuclear power electric generation

Compare how constant electricity is in other countries to Nigeria , it's better to pay higher for constant electricity than pay low for on and off electricity

We have some really stupid people In this country. Why not provide the amount (or even more) of megawatts of electricity Nigeria needs, then see how generators will be phased out and revenue will soar?

I think we're not yet ready to move out of this phase of lack of electricity.

Pay as you use most Nigerians will still not pay but boycott and expect better power

FG should encourage private investors allow them use old pole
Each investor in giving 1 local governmentt handle then we know defaulters easily
If power was paid for many foreign investors will Come in

The reason why we have low on and off electricity is because the low bills do not allow the DISCOS and GENCOS to make enough profit to make improvements, and to pay the TCN to make improvements too.(which is why TCN is fighting them over money).

With which money?

The low bills charged (as at 2019, the gencos were producing power at N53 per kwh and discos were selling it at N20-30 per kwh) is why they cannot provide more power.

We have good GSM and internet because the government lets them charge for their services at a price they want to charge. Plus, you cannot bypass the payment mechanism.

With electric power

1.Government for decades has been setting the price below the production cost...even AFTER privatization
2.One can bypass the meters and use electricity for free.

It is cheap

What we pay for in 4 months for 22 hours power supply daily in Nigeria to a big 5 bedroom house is what overseas people pay for a month's supply to a one bedroom flat.

Where in Nigeria is there 22 hours a day for 4 months

The fact those countries charge higher is why they can afford sustained power.

Plus, Ghana gets 25% of its gas supply for power from Nigeria, for example.

If you think low bills is the reason Nigeria doesn't have constant electricity then you have little knowledge of the power problem in Nigeria , all these companies you mentioned are just power distribution companies
