Godswill Akpabio, former minister of Niger Delta affairs and senator representing Akwa Ibom north-west, on Saturday, paid a courtesy visit to Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife.

Akpabio is among the top lawmakers seeking to be the next senate president when the 10th national assembly is inaugurated in June.

On Saturday, David Umahi, governor of Ebonyi state, said he had dropped his senate president bid and endorsed Akpabio.

Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of Kano, had also said Akpabio would be the next senate president.

Barau Jibrin, senator representing Kano north and Umahi accompanied the senate presidential hopeful during the visit.

As far as someone from the South becomes the Senate President of Nigeria , we are happy with it. We don't want anyone from the North anymore.

Buhari should vacate office with immediate effect because his Tenure is over.

I like how Umahi is playing politics without bitterness. He will soon be rewarded if he can keep the momentum building Bridges with other ethnic tribes. He doesn't believe in Nzogbu, Nzogbu politics. He keeps stepping down when necessary without picking offences, people will soon be stepping down for him too if he can continue in that manner. He has charisma and capacity to be next Igbo president if he can continue bridging with north
