Your website is your online storefront, and it's the first impression potential customers will have of your business. That's why it's important to make sure your website is well-designed, informative, and easy to use.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when creating your website:

1. Your website should be mobile-friendly: More and more people are using their smartphones and tablets to browse the web, so it's important to make sure your website looks good and functions properly on all devices.

2. Your website should be easy to navigate: Customers should be able to find the information they're looking for quickly and easily. Use clear and concise navigation menus and make sure your website loads quickly.

3. Your website should be visually appealing: Your website should be visually appealing and consistent with your brand identity. Use high-quality images and videos, and make sure your website is easy on the eyes. The designs on your website must convey meaning to your website visitors

4. Your website should be informative: Your website should provide potential customers with all the information they need to know about your business, including your products or services, contact information, and hours of operation.

5. Your website should be secure: Make sure your website is secure using a valid SSL certificate. This will help protect your customers' personal information and make them feel more comfortable doing business with you.

How customer journey mapping can enhance your website user experience

As a business owner, creating the ideal user experience on your website is vital, because it determines how effective your website would be in lead conversion and sales. One powerful tool that can greatly contribute to achieving this goal is customer journey mapping.

What is customer journey mapping?

Customer journey mapping is a strategic process of visualizing and understanding the various interactions that a customer goes through when engaging with your website. In other words, it determines the actions your site visitors would take as soon as they get to your landing page.

A good customer journey mapping creates a friendly user experience. It involves analyzing the behavior and needs of your prospects and using this knowledge to streamline the actions they would take on your website in order to give them the best user experience.

Here are some ways a good customer journey mapping can improve your website UX

1. Improved User Engagement: By identifying areas where users may encounter difficulties or frustrations, customer journey mapping allows you to optimize the flow of your website. This encourages visitors to stay longer on your website, explore your products and services, and make a purchase decision.

2. Increased Conversion Rates: A well-designed customer journey mapping strategy helps you identify and remove any obstacles that may hinder the conversion process. By streamlining the path to purchase, you can make the purchase process as seamless as possible which would result in high conversion rates.

3. Improved Customer Satisfaction and Loyalty: By enhancing the overall user experience, customer journey mapping contributes to higher customer satisfaction. Site visitors are much more likely to purchase repeatedly from a website with a good user experience. Satisfied customers are more likely to become loyal advocates for your brand.

4. Enhanced Personalization: Mapping out the customer journey enables you to deliver personalized experiences tailored to each user's specific needs. By understanding their preferences, you can offer relevant content, recommend products or services, and provide a seamless and customized journey that resonates with your target audience.

To enhance your website's user experience through effective customer journey mapping, start by understanding your users and mapping out their interactions.

This can be done by doing comprehensive research on the behavior of your prospects, especially the websites they visit and how they interact with those websites. This would help you better understand the flow you should adapt to your website to create the best user experience.

Don’t drive ad traffic to your homepage…. Here’s why

When it comes to maximizing sales through paid ads, directing your ad traffic to your homepage could be a disaster. The purpose of a homepage is to create brand awareness and a general overview of your business, and not sell or advertise your products.

If the purpose of your paid ad campaign is to sell a specific product or service, your ad traffic shouldn’t go to your home page if you truly want your traffic to convert.

Sending your ad traffic to your website is just like throwing someone in the deep end and expecting them to swim their way out… They would definitely drown.

This is why some online marketers get few traffic conversions when they direct ads to their homepage.

So…. where should your ad traffic go?

Instead of driving ads traffic to your homepage, they should be directed to dedicated pages on your website called “landing pages”.

A landing page and a homepage aren’t the same, even though they’re often mistaken for each other.

A landing page is a dedicated page on your website to provide info about a specific product or service to your site visitors. A homepage, on the other hand, is the front page of your website i.e. the page your site visitors get to when they click on your website link.

Why then should your ads traffic be directed to a landing page?

Directing your traffic to a landing page offers a good user experience to your leads, since they know what to expect when they click on your ad - more information about what you’re selling.

Landing pages also offer focused and persuasive content on specific products or services, ultimately for the purpose of selling. Since the main objective of a landing page is to sell through information, it helps your prospects make informed decisions about buying your products.

And if your landing page is good enough, it would definitely do a good job of converting your leads into customers.

"Do I need a portfolio website?"

This is a question that's commonly asked by so many freelancers and there has been so much debate on the topic of whether freelancers need portfolio websites or not.

Regardless of how professional you are in your expertise, you should be able to prove your skill level to other people by showing them what you're capable of achieving with your skillset.

It's essential to highlight your projects, skills, and experiences, and a common way to achieve this is through a portfolio website.

You don't need to complete hundreds of projects to create a portfolio website. Start with that simple project you have done and share your experience around it.

Your portfolio website needs to be fast, concise, and easy to understand. The number of pages or sections on your portfolio website depends on the services you offer and the number of projects you want to display.

The most important thing here is to ensure that your portfolio website is pretty concise and makes it easy for visitors to reach out to you.

Remember, the true value of your service is reflected in how you portray yourself to others. You might not be the best in your field, but you can always present yourself in the best way possible.

Recently, I launched my personal portfolio website as a website designer to highlight some of my past and recent projects.

When designing your website, remember: simplicity is key! Avoid overwhelming your visitors with cluttered layouts or too much information. Keep your design clean, navigation intuitive, and content concise. A simple, user-friendly website is more likely to engage visitors and drive conversions.
