My question is what would Fela have done in that encounter with the police on the 3rd mainland bridge?

Even Baba Fela, never went physical to fight Police or Army. Seun, have never tasted the wrath of this uniformed people that was why he acted the way he did. It will take a merciful Judge to temper justice with Mercy because Police want to use him and shine... We know our uniformed personal are e.v.i.l on their own!
Seun don enter one chance. Police are just out to make a statement out of him.

This has nothing to do with the APC government.

Any government no matter who is the president or the political party in power will take strong exception to a citizen assaulting a policeman or any other government official for that matter! undecided

Seun Kuti is very wrong for slapping an officer on duty. He should never repeat such again.

On February 18, 1977, the house of Fela Anikulapo Kuti got burnt by the army. The artist’s utopia of a land of asylum open to all the outcasts left in Lagos went up in smoke. That same gruesome day, Funmilayo Kuti, Fela’s mother, was thrown out of a window. A major figure for Panafricanism, an activist for the anti-colonial struggle with Kwame Nkrumah, died shortly afterwards from her wounds.

The event directly inspired the song “Sorrow Tears and Blood”

Reno has begged the Nigerian Inspector General Police to take Seun's PTSD into account while prosecuting him.

Seun was recently arrested and detained for slapping a police officer on duty. He is currently being prosecuted for the crime.

Reno explained that Seun's father and Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti and his family had a bad experience with the Nigerian police, which his son, Seun witnessed while growing up.

I'm pretty sure they already asked him to do that but knowing what Seun believes in, he'll never compromise like that. Hence, the whole unnecessary prolongation of the issue with the hope that it'll break him.

What gave Seun Kuti the guts to assault a police officer on duty knowing fully well of his family's ordeals with the police and army in the past ??

He has been loud lately on social media attacking LP , a member of Psquare and David Hundeyin for reasons best known to him.

By the time NPF are through with Seun Kuti, the guy go soft.
