The Chairman of the Presidential Election Petition Court, Justice Haruna Tsammani, has dismissed the application for live coverage of court proceedings.

At the proceeding in Abuja on Monday, Justice Tsammani said the application by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) lacked merit.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, had filed an application on May 8 for an order to allow the live coverage of the daily court proceedings on the case they brought against the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, following the February 25 election.

The Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, followed suit with a similar application asking that proceedings of the tribunal be televised.

However, a week later, Tinubu opposed the application for a live broadcast of the proceedings of the election petition, describing it as an abuse of court process.

I dont know why this election thing is overly emotional to some people especially the south easterner. This is beyond the hate for Tinubu or Buhari. This is something else.

I just checked the twitter page of ChannelsTV where this news was posted. And the first comment that appeared in the comment section says alot. Infact it mirrored the exact reason why the tribunal refused to grant the live coverage. Imagine someone threatening the lives of the judges and their family.

A random mad fellow who is very confident to threaten the family of the judges, publicly; can also harm or kill the witnesses who are going to testify.

As expected!

The day they banned phones from the courts was the day I knew they weren’t going to allow live broadcast of the proceedings.

But on a more reasonable note, the PEPC allowing for live broadcasts would have led to ripple effects on all Election Tribunals across the country which would have led to some form of chaos.

Live broadcast or no live broadcast, all we ask for is for justice to be done and our mandate recovered.

Again, Live broadcast or no live broadcast, Obi is coming.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. The proceedings are held in public. Why would you want a live broadcast if not to mock and ridicule the judges. Let them continue to waste their time. I seriously don't know why some people, especially Igbos, are taking this issue too far. 4 years seem far, but will soon elapse and Obi will have another chance. He came 3rd and didn't satisfy the Constitutional requirements. Let's allow peace.

You have comprehension issues. Which led you to write a gazelle gagaraga epistle on something else.
The dude is saying the judges' families will be the first to feel the heat of insecurity caused by APC's cluelessness. You can call that a curse or evil wish but it's definitely not a threat. At least to people who understand simple English

Revolution won't be successful in Nigeria

The past protest should have thought you that

The North was peaceful during the ENDSARS riot because their son is the President

Have you forgotten the protest that took place in the South West and North during Jonathan tenure but the South South and South East was peaceful?

During the Naira Scarcity when some people were protesting in the South South and South West, have you suddenly forgotten how peaceful the South East was with people there supporting the cashless policy because they felt it will help their son to become the president?

Do you think Westerners will partake in any protest to remove their son from power?

Asiwaju will rule Nigeria till 2031, accept reality and safe yourself from depression and HBP.

I think the tribunal just scored an own goal... It is unbelievable to think that same judiciary that is anchored on justice, equity and fairness would throw out a suit seeking transparency in proceedings of interest to every citizen of nigeria.

nothing delicate about the case

You are just unnecessarily attaching your existence to it that's why it appears delicate

It's not different from other tribunal proceeding in the past we have been seeing
