What Happens If You Break Your Wudu During Umrah? by Adnanijaz: 12:04pm On May 26, 2023
If wudu breaks during Umrah, it is necessary to redo wudu and then start again. As prayer is not valid without wudu, so does the Umrah. It is necessary for Travel agencies to guide people with all the basic knowledge. Umrah packages from London provide all the guidelines in this regard.

Umrah is a pilgrimage that is completed by following three important rituals:

1. Tawaf is circling the Holy Place of Makkah. Taharah is important for tawaf so it is mandatory to be pure before performing tawaf.
2. Sai is a back-and-forth movement at Muqaam-e-Ibrahim in remembrance of Prophet Ismail and Her mother Hazrat Hajra A.S. Taharah is not mandatory during Sa’i.
3. Taqsir, cutting of hair about 2 inches for females and a clean shave of the head for males.

It is important to purify yourself before performing Umrah if a person is sick or old age and is not possible for them to do ablution repeatedly, then it’s an exception that they can complete their Umrah in any state.

Sometimes there are circumstances when there is no availability of water. Shariah has ordered a substitution for wudu. It is called Tayammum. There are two opinions on this:

1. The Hanafis and Shafis have views that he should resume the Tawaf even if it breaks wudu and complete up to seven rounds.
2. Malikis and Hanbalis are the ones who think of starting again.

Some scholars have a view that it is not essential to be in a state of purity during tawaf. Islam is a religion of mercy and easiness. It does not force someone to disclose his privacy. Even Allah has promised in Quran that no one has responsibility more than he can bear. The condition might occur for the reason that a person is unable to control his bladder. Many people doubt that they might have broken their wudu during Salah or Sai. If a person releases gas during Salah or Umrah, he can complete it. There are no restrictions on him by Shariah. These are Ashab-al-adhere. These are the people with valid excuses. Islam shows flexibility for these people. These people are advised to wudu near the time of Salah.

Ruling in Islam:

Islam has the same rule of purity applied to all the sacred rituals of worship. If one wants to read Quran should be in a state of wudu or ablution. A person who suffers from enuresis is allowed to do wudu just before worship. People may do malingering about their disease to get rid of doing wudu again. There is no flexibility in orders of sharia for such kinds of people. This kind of act is not appreciated and is written as sinning. Being in a state of purity is a prerequisite of Umrah. If one in its sane condition does not wudu then their Umrah is not accepted. Passing wind during tawaf for sane is restricted and should wudu again continue it. He should complete tawaf as long as he is in Mecca. If he returns to his country, he should slaughter a sheep as compensation for leaving Tawaf in the middle.

Sai and Taqsir do not require taharah. It is not obligatory to wudu at that period. Tawaf is done on the premises of Masjid Al Haram while Sai and Taqsir are done outside that area. This may also be easy for people and Islam does not enforce on them. Umrah is the journey of opportunities. Muslims are provided with the chance of getting into purity. They get a chance to wash out their sins. Wudu not only helps to clean the outer dirt but is also mandatory for Salah as well as Umrah. Quran is a Holy book and one is not allowed to handle it without wudu or ablution. Islam does not harden it for people who are diseased or old age. Performing ablution is only mandatory for tawaf but if ones do it for Sai and other rituals of Umrah and Hajj then one is rewarded with divine holiness in the world and the afterlife. Ihram is a state which demands to be pure so one should be in ablution which is mandatory in an impure state.
