Following the announcement of fuel subsidy removal by the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a former federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has declared war on agitators in support of its continuation.

The senator made this known in a tweet on Monday while reacting to developments stemming from the president’s announcement yesterday.

PUNCH reported that Tinubu announced on Monday in Abuja that his administration would remove the subsidy on petroleum products.

“Subsidy is gone!” Tinubu exclaimed during his inaugural address at Eagle Square, Abuja, shortly after he was sworn in as the 16th President of Nigeria.

The president said there was no provision for subsidy in the national budget as of June 2023 and, therefore, it stands removed.

Senator Shehu, who had been in support of the idea of the removal of fuel subsidy in Nigeria, noted that fuel stations shutting down in less than 24 hours after the announcement of subsidy removal is mere blackmail.

He wrote, “Shutting down petrol stations on the announcement of the removal of petroleum subsidy is the usual blackmail by the subsidy cartel. It’s time to neutralise the subsidy parasites.”

According to him, the government had spent billions of naira on fuel subsidy which experts say is not sustainable.

The issue of fuel subsidy has been a matter of national discussion for many years, with many questioning its impact on citizens.

The immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari had announced the removal of the fuel subsidy in June, but it was postponed during the Federal Executive Council meeting on April 27.

The marketers will lose more. Imagine them collecting huge sums from government in the name of subsidy and some of them taking that same subsidized fuel to neighboring countries to sell at a higher price.
Things will be bad for some months but we will see the long term effect later.

These politicians (like Shehu Sani) should stop politicising this subsidy, making it look like only the rich enjoy it.

Every Nigerian enjoys PMS subsidy and the onus is on the government to ensure accountability and transparency in subsidy payment. Don't let everyone suffer for your failure to put your house in order.

I blame GEJ for not standing on his words that period.
He saw the future but he allowed the opposition to direct his policy to their own benefit.

The campaign after election rants on the snouts of despicable losers now is that Tinubu supporters will also suffer from "Tinubu's subsidy removal".

Ask them if it was Tinubu that removed it, they tell you his party was ruling and no difference.

Tell them their rejected god said same, they tell you Tinubu borrowed the concept from the con artist.

Just imagine the poppycock.

This continuous somersaults at every point happens when ignorance and illiteracy reigns supreme among a large collection of unintelligent human beings.

Anyone who thinks this is blackmail is obviously a novice.
If a trader gets a hint that his supplier has increased prices, the trader will increase his own prices immediately. This is business!

Elections are over, why are you still ranting and verry bitter. You must be an angry person on real life.

Sanni gave his opinion and you are free to give yours.

Just get a life!

The only way is to unmask them and withraw/revoke all their certificates of incorporation.. That way they can no longer function or do any form of business again in Nigeria. They'll be like skinned chickens in bowls waiting to be cut into pieces.

You benefit from cheap goods and services transported through buses and cars that run on PMS.

You benefit from affordable services of barbers, business centres, cybercafes, and other small businesses that use PMS generators to run because power is not stable in the country.

When PMS subsidy is removed, you will see how the prices of goods and services will skyrocket and understand adverse effect of that move.

Nobody should be talking about totally removing PMS subsidy until Dangote refinery starts working optimally and we can generate and transmit nothing less than 20kMegawatts of power.

Usual defense of steewpidity.
They are getting away with it because góvèrñment is not taking any measure.
Góvèrñment subsidized this fuel for the màssés, the Iamè analyses of increasing price to be able to buy is a usual lgb0 analysis of a market that làcks basic regulations.
