Pentecostal churches pledge allegiance to Tinubu’s presidency, abandon Obi to reclaim ‘stolen mandate’ in court.

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has thrown its weight behind President Bola Tinubu, pledging Pentecostal churches’ allegiance to his presidency.

PFN, in 2022, decided against voting for Mr Tinubu based on APC’s Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket and urged its 65 million Christians to shun any political party fielding a Muslim presidential and vice-presidential candidate in the 2023 election.

But in a congratulatory message published in a full-page advert on Thursday, the PFN said it would support Mr Tinubu’s government with prayers and counsel for him to succeed in office.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
We give Your Excellency the pledge of our support, cooperation, fervent prayers, and godly counsel at all times throughout your administration,” the PFN said in a message signed by its national president, Wale Oke.

On Monday, Mr Tinubu took an oath of office as the 16th president of Nigeria, promising to run an inclusive government and grow the country’s economy.

Tinubu, 71, a former Lagos governor, succeeded ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, who spent eight years of two terms in office.

Mr Tinubu is a Muslim politician from Nigeria’s South-West. Many groups and individuals severely censured his race for the presidency because he chose a Muslim as his running mate. Even prominent figures within his ruling APC and his so-called allies rose against Mr Tinubu based on the religious colouration of his presidential ticket.

The PFN noted that Mr Tinubu “fought a good fight and demonstrated uncommon courage, strategic capability and real grit” to emerge as the president.

You overcame every formidable obstacle, and God Almighty has given you the desire of your heart. Please accept our hearty congratulations,” said the PFN message.

It further stated, “As you are fully aware, Mr President, our nation is grappling with daunting challenges that threaten even the foundations of her existence, ranging from horrendous nationwide administration, insecurity, near comatose economy, near infrastructural collapse, youth restiveness and heavy, unprecedented brain drain, systemic corruption, distrust of political leadership by the masses and several others.”

While urging the new president to bring the same wholehearted courage, focus and grit he used to win the presidential election, the PFN asked him to tackle the nation’s challenges and birth a new, united, prosperous Nigeria where no one is oppressed.

It is a tough call,” said PFN. “But with God Almighty on your side, giving you uncommon wisdom to rally and unite all Nigerians for this common cause, you will surely succeed and write your name in gold in the annals of Nigerian history.”

In April, The Gazette exposed in a leaked audio how Peter Obi, a Christian from Nigeria’s South-East and a major presidential candidate in the February 25 poll, mustered Christian leaders to ramp up a sectarian appeal to push him over the line.

Last July, Peoples Gazette published an exclusive detailing an intelligence report SSS sent to President Muhammadu Buhari warning that Mr Tinubu’s decision to nominate a fellow Muslim as vice-presidential candidate for the 2023 presidential election was a recipe for renewed sectarian crises that could destabilise Nigeria.

As a youth leader of CPFN in my state, I warned them against any political miscalculation. If you publicly against a candidate and such candidate emerged as a winner then it won't turn out to favour us.
The reason for agitation against SE/SS senate presidency is because of CAN opposition to Tinubu presidency. They should have agreed to render their support and bid for senate presidency of catholic extradition from SS/SE and HOR speaker from North Central who is from PFN extradition. This calculation would have balance MU-MU ticket
Instead of this, they were crying Islamization and marginalization up and down.
You did not support me before election I cannot trust you after my victory

Come you people both in LP and APC should learn to remove Christianity from your petty politics

Christ the supposed founder of Christianity wasn't looking for how government would favour him because he was not of this world

The beer and drug merchant should take note

I don’t know why they chose to support a failure in the election in the first place. How can any sane person believe someone like Obi Pandora will win a national election?

Now that they have retraced their step, they have nothing to fear about the Muslim-Muslim ticket. President Tinubu will carry every religion along and they will benefit more from him than they would from that Obi Pndora guy.

George Akure is now SGF, the Northern Christians now have a true middle beltan at the top. Let’s hope he uses the connection well for the middle belt people and we can ensure the main issue of insecurity bedeviling them can be eradicated since there won’t be conspiracy of the state killing Benue people through herdsmen.

Wale Oke, the national president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) on Saturday said the church will mobilise 65 million Christians to vote against any political party who fields Muslim-Muslim a ticket during the presidential election in 2023.

Mr Oke, a bishop, spoke on Saturday at the 30th anniversary of PFN in Osun State. He warned that the church will be against another Muslim candidate like Muhammadu Buhari.

“The Church in Nigeria is saying ‘No’ to a Muslim-Muslim ticket. We are going to mobilise the church against such political party. PFN has 65 million people and we will vote against such party,” he said.

“Obasanjo handed over to Yar’adua, Yar’adua to Jonathan and Jonathan to Buhari and who else should Buhari hand over to but a Christian?”

It's d 'church' brah.
Obi was already a mess whose relevance was as a result of his kinsmen who polished his CV, who will rather prefer to vote for (literal) goat so long its owner is a kinsman.

The pastor's and bishops messed themselves up, not obi. Even the leader of my 'church' a well-known bishop fell my hand when I heard him say "he won't support anyone whose source of income he doesn't know". I was like, so, it's obis source of income that is verifiable?

This bishop later rubbished himself when he allowed obi to rope him in a 'religious war' scandal. I be like, ''shey u see ur life now''?
cool
