Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has ordered the immediate termination of all appointments into the State Civil Service made by the last administration in the last year.

The governor's directive was contained in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, on Wednesday in Makurdi. The statement had among others also ordered the reversal of all promotions to the rank of Permanent Secretary made by the outgone administration from January, 2023, directing that all those affected persons revert to their previous positions.

The People's Democratic Party, PDP, in the state however condemned the sacking of the Civil Servants describing it as unlawful, insensitive and callous.

Says an IGNORAMUS. For 7 years of Ortom's regime, he couldn't employ up to 1000 civil servants, was owing staff and pensioners, but had the guts to go ahead with a Kangaroo employment less than 3 months to the expiration of his administration, and you are wailing? His Kangaroo employment was done such that, the employment letters were not given to the intended employees until after his and his stooge's loss of election. No sane person will justify the Kangaroo employment of over 10,000 workers 3 months to the end of an administration.
