For progressive and dispassionately intelligent Nairalanders only.

Is there a bigger and more lucid argument for subsidy removal and full deregulation of the Nigerian oil and gas sector, relegating the corrupt and serially discredited FG to the background entirely, than what is revealed below? Nigerians read and judge for yourselves.

Nasarawa Gov: Buhari Spent More Than $19bn Cost Of Dangote Refinery On Non-Functional Ones

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State says the government of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari spent more than the $19 billion used in building the Dangote Refinery on the maintenance of the country’s refineries.

At different points within his 8 years in power, the Buhari administration awarded contracts for the repair of refineries in Kaduna, Port Harcourt, and Warri but none is functioning up till date.

However, with $19 billion, Dangote built Africa’s largest petrochemical refinery and the world’s largest single-train petroleum refining facility.

Speaking when he featured on Channels Television Sunrise Daily, the governor said the Dangote Refinery would be a game changer in the sector.

“Look at how much the President Buhari administration spent on fixing the refineries. In the eight years, he spent more money than the $19 billion that Dangote spent in building a refinery. That is one and half times the size of our three refineries combined.

“Our three refineries in Nigeria today have a total of 450,000 barrels per day, Dangote is 650,000. He spent $19 billion on building it. We spent, not building a new one, but in maintaining these refineries more than $19 billion in eight years, yet they have not been maintained.”

As the Petroleum Minister and the President... This is an indictment of corruption on Buhari himself

Since 2015 we keep hearing Turn around maintenance of refinery yet nothing done on site

Is it that Buhari as a Minister nominated Criminals to bid for the repair of National Refinery under his ministry?!

Since Buhari is the President, couldn't he do due process of verifying the Company for the repairs before signing off project funds to the tune of $19billion over 8 years

Atleast Goodluck Jonathan can claim Alison Madueke is responsible for his own Oil fruad

Buhari was only there to use our money for his health in abroad.
That's what they do when they become president, it's now like a culture to anyone there.

Precisely bro. This is why Government patently corrupt hands must be removed, as much as possible, from our oil and gas sector to make way for full deregulation of the downstream sector.

TAM is discredited. A contestant for biggest corruption scam in Nigeria's history.

This is because, little known to most, it was deliberate misuse of TAM that birthed fuel subsidy payment in the first place.

TAM after TAM did not seem capable of ensuring our refineries work optimally.

Imagine the whole sordid state of affairs when billions were spent on TAM yet our refineries were always non-functional whereas they are not even down for day in serious countries,

Failure of TAM, that left our refineries comatose always, was what gave birth to fuel subsidy payment.

Subsequent corrupt misuse of TAM simply ensured fuel subsidy payment, a big muilti-level scam in reality, remained in place till now.

I personally believe it is far more than that. My opinion is that Buhari used every avenue possibly to massively enrich his cronies from the North because of his opinion that the North is somehow poor because of the South and he must therefore 'equalise' on their behalf.

Just my own opinion sha that I feels Buhari's many open display of bias and favouritism towards the North validates.

Not sure Buhari was dull and incompetent per se. That would apply if he was a President genuinely dedicated to the progress of every corner of Nigeria and every Nigerian. You can't call a boxer who throws a fight a bad boxer. He is a con man.

After the facts, it is obvious Buhari's main agenda was not to serve Nigeria as best and as sincerely as he could. Too many example of his pro-North compromise existed.

Under Buhari, Zamfara was keep 100% profit from her gold sale whereas southern VAT, mineral resource etal was shared for use throughout Nigeria.

There is no way to twist those realities southern leaders complained about and fought him for.
