Lol
You're already paying at their terms ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„
Why do you think the naira has lost value and petrol price has shot up?
๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„

At least we are not paying at IMF HQ

It is like you don't know the meaning of IMF terms....it would make the recent price increase look like chicken feed.

No such thing as cheap fuel. At least we should have gotten the message since the early 1990's.

We are mainly docile reactionists....
Talking with all the holes in the teeth.
All of a sudden, the subsidy removal is the way to go ....
Bullshit.
What about putting B before C......?!
As long as government means populist tendencies instead of strict adherence to the rule of Law and the Constitution.... it's many motion no movement

Subsidy was removed without any plans on mitigating the effect on the masses, no blue print on what the money will be used for and people are shouting it's the best decision. If you think subsidy removal will automatically crash prices you must be dreaming. Nigeria does not control the price of crude oil products and since we barely have functioning refineries, subsidy removal won't do much good for the price of petrol. Subsidy is the only benefit Nigerians enjoy and unless there's a clear cut plan on how to spend the savings judiciously, then people had better buckle up for harder times ahead.

How was government wasting funds?

How was fuel subsidy being used in "enriching very few capitalist bourgeoisie in the petroleum upstream and downstream sectors"?

Who are these "very few capitalist bourgeoisie in the petroleum upstream and downstream sectors" you are talking about?

The petroleum marketers importing and selling the refined petroleum products are the bourgeoisie. Government paying them to subsidise the price of fuel is wastage and corruption. Government was wasting funds instead of renovating and returning the Refineries in Warri, PH and Kaduna to function, which would guarantee cheap availability and supply of petroleum products to the Nigerian populace.

How is government paying marketers to subsidise the price of petroleum products wastage and corruption? Can you pls explain?

I thought it is NNPCL that imports fuel? When did marketers start importing fuel again?

Buhari spent more than N1trillion on the refineries between 2015 and 2020 with nothing to show for it. Where did u nowcget your information that govt couldn't refurbish the refineries because of fuel Subsidy?

Now that the fuel subsidy has been "removed", is the fuel cheap since you say subsidy is the reason why there's no cheap fuel?

Meanwhile,

How was fuel subsidy being used in "enriching very few capitalist bourgeoisie in the petroleum upstream and downstream sectors"?

Until we learn to express ourselves in this country without using the word "we must", "you must"etc. We might be stagnant for eternity.

Preaching to the converted.
What is all the appeal about when the average Nigerian has accepted it has to go and it has gone.

What Nigerians are concerned about is the inflationary effects about which the government has said NOTHING in the week since gasoline prices increased more than 100%.

One would have expected that the government will have announced a series of inflationary taming measures ahead of markets of various economic designations so that the public is assured the fallout will be minimal but they continue to stand idly by while transport fares have galloped, closely following with certainty are food prices and in the next few weeks other soft commodity prices will surge.

By the time they wake up I hope the cost of durable goods will not have been impacted if not it will be over, Nigeria will be headed for serious economic problems. The time for them to act is now that price rises are limited to soft goods.

Nigerians should wake up to realise that subsidy removal alone is not the silver bullet that will kill the eternal vampire of economic woes. It is just the entrance, the door way to opportunity. The economy still has to be properly managed in a cerebral manner and with dexterity. And the battle against inflation is key as it is in all progressive economies of the world at the moment.

Nigeria should do likewise.
You are the only voice of reason. Inflation resulting from this reckless implementation of economic policy will consume this nation.
