Tinubu succeeded because he made the declaration before appointment special advisers. Once special advisers are appointed, oil marketers visit them with sizeable Ghana must go bags and tell them that is just the beginning of more goodies to come then the advisers rather than advise the president in the interest of the masses, they advise the president in their personal interest and those of oil marketers but decorate the advise to look like something in the interest of the masses.
Another saving grace is the fact that the subsidy is not even in the budget, Tinubu would be shooting himself on the foot if he had talked about borrowing to provide for the subsidy.

U cant remove Subsidy without creating the framework or better economy to cushion the effect and hardship it will cause. That is the main issue.

I'm already getting used to the hardships...
Now I see the reason why Buhari or Jonathan couldn't remove the subsidy! There are real "powers that be". Actually, these people (powers that be) were afraid that if Peter Obi wins he'd crack down their wings and political/economical power (which of course he would), and focus on the poor, and so they rigged for Tinubu. But they didn't know that Tinubu would do the same thing they feared.

I pray for long life for Mr. President (BAT). May he arrest them all and fix the country.

Actually, everyone knew that subsidy was going.

Tinubu, Obi and Atiku were all clear about subsidy going. Plus, anyone would have seen the writing on the wall the minute NNPC became NNPCL, AND the PIA was passed into law, and signed by Buhari. It was just a matter of time.

Plus, the reason why subsidy remains is because most Nigerians wanted it. It's been there since the 1970's. If millitary strongmen like Abacha could not remove it, a civillian government won't be able to.

Again, the reason why Tinubu made such a declaration about subsidy going was because it has reached a point where we were borrowing to fund the thing. At that point, it does not matter what any cabal says....keep borrowing to pay for subsidy, and a point would be reached where there would be no money for even those political forces you speak of to chop.,,,because IMF won't fund our addiction no more.

The Question this TUC spokesman should ask is, is there Anything Nigerians will gain from it's removal? sad

The Fact is: Fuel Subsidy Removal is to Favour Dangote and the Northern Hausa/FULANI Aristocrats
who have bought shares in his Refinery. 😕

Every Nigerian is Lining the Pocket of Dangote, anytime he/she buys a litre Fuel of N510. 😔😒
so, before now, whose pocket were you lining? Rubbish and ingredient.

They don't need to ask him. Is very painful when some doesn't know the meaning of a debtor. Buhari finished Nigeria with loan

Just use the energy and ask Google " Does Nigeria use to burrow or collect loan to pay subsidy and you will see the answer.

They used three unborn generations to be collecting loan and pay for fuel me and you did not use grin. If the next generation enjoys life, is it not better that they suffer the same way our own generation experience. IMF loan, Suku loan, China loan, Brazil loan etc. Where is the result l beg. Road buhari could not finish. Yet to complete Lagos to Ibadan (to Ojoo axis) from ijebu ode to shagamu na patch patch. Nigeria Air way n ko

People like you, are the reason why Nigeria is not progressing as expected. If I may ask you, what have you done to ensure that Nigeria stops importation of fuel? Or are you part of those enjoying the suffering of Nigerians through subsidy. Before you accuse Dangote or the imaginary Fulani, think twice.

Nobody is saying petroleum subsidy payment should be sustained. The question is how did NNPC arrive at the advised pricing template? So Nigeria was paying over 300 naira subsidy on every litre of petrol during the subsidy regime? What were customs officers manning the nations borders doing that the subsidized product get smuggled to neighbouring countries? Subsidy removal will at the end translate to more money available for looting by government officials.

You want Dangote refinery to sell fuel at a loss?

Plus, there are 5 other refineries, only one of which is owned by a Northerner. Then NNPC is repairing its refineries.

If Dangote does not make a profit selling fuel, his refinery will collapse. That is why subsidy has to go.

Ghana, Niger, even Cameroon sell fuell at expensive rates and have working refineries.

just listen to yourself. you are sounding more and more ridiculous by the day. your sentence is future continuous tense.

pls when did NNPC start "repairing" these refineries that up till now it hasnt finished?

how long does it take to repair refineries?

what happened to all buharis promises that the refineries were going to be ready in his first term even after spending N1.48 trillion on maintaining refineries?

i thought u had always said that theres no money? where did buhari get this money he spent on the refineries without result?

Subsidy noise is what they will use to keep u pple busy for eight years....they will use it to keep blaming opposition...... they will use it as excuse for not doing anything or why their efforts ddnt show.....

They should cut all their wicked allowances and keep paying the subsidy cos thats the only real thing the masses benefits from this evil government

They are making it look like those gaining from subsidy is not these same government official in power... they are the same marketers....

Subsidy removal is just readjusting their stealing format and redirecting it through dangote refinery.....

It's only the ignorant that would deny the crippling effects of fuel subsidy, however, the problem is its sudden introduction without shock absorbers in place for a country that has battled several issues that almost brought it down. The government should have considered "holistic measures such as the provision of mass transit buses, as well as plowing funds into education, health and agriculture sectors to boost learning, well-being and food sufficiency in the country."
I blame Buhari and failure of governance.

all of sudden, fuel subsidy has become the singular reason for all nigerias problems. pls what are those crippling effects of fuel subsidy?

it seems you are lying about buhari or tinubu lied about him. which one is it?

so subsidy is the only the government was borrowing to fund?

was buhari not borrowing to pay salaries?

are salaries supposed to be "removed" because of that if the justification for "removal" of fuel subsidy is because the government was borrowing to sustain it?

the government has been removing fuel subsidy since the 90s maybe earlier. what was the percentage of the cost of each litre of fuel was the government paying as subsidy?

with each partial withdrawal of subsidy, what percentage of subsidy was removed and what was left?

In this attempt by tinubu, what was the percentage of subsidy left that he removed?

For as long as he keeps setting up businesses in Nigeria Dangote is fine in my book. You cannot hate on a man dimple because he has economic control of sections of the economy. This is usually the industrial pattern in any country in the world, check out how Rockefeller, JP Morgan controlled US oil and rail at the onset and how Bunker Hunt controlled silver. At a time the Cornelius Vanderbilt had more money than the US Treasury. These things even out over a generation or two. Maybe three. Cut these men some slack.

Dislike of some is no reason to live in poverty. At the worst if you don't see any gains from removal of subsidy exercise your vote.

Re: Fuel Subsidy Threatened Nigeria’s Survival, Made Marketers Rich — TUC by Dicado: 6:35am On Jun 12, 2023
Right, but if you know the cabals benefiting from subsidy you will know how powerful they are. Former heads of states, former NASS members, Northern governors, mostly all Fulani Northern and Islamic cabals, and their accomplices which has then become bosses themselves. These forces enjoyed the money and there was no way a northern president (Buhari) or a Muslim would remove it, NO WAY AT ALL. They thought Tinubu's promises were same with other regular politicians who lies to get votes and after elected would do otherwise. Secondly, they're very much aware that Tinubu is a Muslim and has spent a lot of money from his pocket during his campaigns, so to get his money back, he would join the queue and also benefit from the subsidy. Fulani cabals don't care if Nigeria borrows and sink. All the borrowed money were going to them and they're not going to pay back from their pockets. The subsidy removal thing was a political war and not how Buhari government painted it. It was a message for the incoming president, assuming the incoming president was someone of the choice of Buhari cabals, you wouldn't have heard anything about subsidy removal during Buhari's tenure. Since they started noticing the body language of Tinubu closed to Buhari's second tenure, they started drumming subsidy removal to scare him off because they believe NO ONE could remove it. Tinubu is able to do it because he's a power that be himself. You'll begin to see how the North will gradually be looking for excuses to fight against Tinubu. Just relax and watch how everything unfolds.
