The European nation reached the most important continental finals at club level plus the youth international showpiece, but failed to win anything

Although Italian soccer reasserted its authority at the top table by securing a spot in the finals of the most prestigious club competitions in Europe (Champions League, Europa League, Conference League), the clubs suffered defeat in all of them. The nation then saw its young stars fail at the final hurdle of the Under-20 World Cup in Argentina.

* Europa League: Sevilla 1-1 Roma (Sevilla win on penalties)

In the Europa League final, Roma, led by Mourinho, fell short as they lost in a penalty shootout. Controversy surrounded the match as many believed that Roma should have been awarded a penalty for a defensive handball during extra time. Despite their efforts, Sevilla emerged victorious, adding a record seventh trophy to their collection.

* Conference League: Fiorentina 1-2 West Ham

Next up was the Conference League final, as Fiorentina faced West Ham. Although Fiorentina initially fell behind, they managed to level almost immediately. However, with just seconds left on the clock, Jarrod Bowen secured the victory for West Ham, denying Fiorentina the title.

* Champions League: Manchester City 1-0 Inter

The Champions League final proved to be the toughest challenge for Italian teams. Inter faced Manchester City, who had recently won the Premier League and the FA Cup. It was a daunting task to expect Inter to overcome such formidable opponents, but on the night in Istanbul there was little to choose between the two teams. Ultimately, Pep Guardiola’s men secured a narrow victory, dashing the hopes of Italian football to claim a European trophy this season. There were tears all round.

This is not rocket science. In football, quality is everything. EPL for example has the best quality players across Europe and you can see how greatly they’re doing.

Italian football is a Shadow of what it used to be. Juve was the only outstanding team over the decade but, have been maligned with several internal issues.

And they also lost the U20 world cup to Uruguay. (although that's easily explainable. Uruguay was the home team, Italy was the away team. Buenos Aires is just a short boat ride away from Montevedieo).

But even then, the fact that three Italian clubs reached European cup finals is a win and is still success. Something that clubs from France, Germany and the Netherlands failed to achieve.

Italian football is passing through a phase and it's even a huge achievement that their teams played in the three European Cup finals.

In the last four seasons, four different teams have won the Italian Serie which shows inconsistency and a high level of competition among the teams.

Juventus is even worse off as they can't win matches and there are been fined here and there.

Why is NL so slow these days, this news that made waves days ago is just hitting the front page of NL.

Unlike the days of Lalasticlala as head of NL front-page, these days NL has become a hub of stale news, propaganda and an arm of the government to push whatever narrative suits them so as to discredit their opposition

It's just a reflection of wat Italian football as become...and how much football as evolved...The Italian teams need to start tweaking there playing philosophy and try playing more in the front foot...tl

Roma got a goal against Sevilla and went to park the bus ..Sevilla equalized and the still parked the bus...they had to wait and hope for a penalty ...something that happens to be 50/50.. unfortunately they weren't lucky

Inter was better against city ...taught hard and made life difficult but even if they had equalized in the second half they would have parked the bus and hoped to play on counter and then hope to drag the game to penalties...another gamble style of game...just like Roma

There are different ways to success in footal...but the rather pragmatic side is something not really working anymore...and that's wat the Italian teams kind of favor in style ..they are the most user of the 3-5-2 formation in their league a formation which is more rigid and defensive than offensive...

The only team that really plays possession based and attacking football is Napoli ( and partly lazio) and it's no surprise Napoli cruised to the league title

The quality in the league is also a set back even the home grown players ...Italy can hardly bost of fast ..skillful..exciting attackers...but year in year out the produce rugged defenders ..most which are not even really good in possession

Very bad. Not even one trophy out of them. On the positive side, it shows that italian teams are regaining their lost glory.
