Sam mabakwe airport, which is the 4th busiest in Nigeria; doesn't come as a coincidence because SM airport is the only airport built by contributions of it's citizens.

Having an airport does not equate to patronage by airline. There must be demand by travelers before this can happen. Many states in the North have airports but no airline go there. The government officials usually patronize private jet owners to get the place busy.
This once again shows lack of thorough planning.

You the APC members shared Umahi when he was building the Airport, sane Igbos on this forum keep screening on top of their voices that Umahi should channel the resources to Human Capital Development of Ndi Ebonyi.

To an extent, we the people are part of the problem. We judge the success of leadership by projects. Tomorrow if Umahi runs for any position, instead of analysing his leadership capacity, we'd ask of the project he did. The politicians have adapted to our stupidity. They simply build projects for you. They ensure that it's a big project for two reasons: 1. They have to steal from it. 2. They want it to last the duration of their political career.

Infrastructure is good. But we have to be smart about it. We shouldn't build things for building sake. There are better better ways to measure good governance-- not just infrastructure.

There is one in Lagos, Ogun wey no fit maintain roads wan build, Oyo own no see passengers, Osun wan build despite Ilorin and Ibadan having one close by already. Ondo dey manage one flight every 2days abi na weekly, ekiti wan build.
Enugu get, Imo get, Anambra don build even if e no dey efficient, Abia sef dey plan, Ebonyi too don build, as if plane ticket na same with okada.
Any state that is not an entertainment hub or commercial/manufacturing hub building airport just dey waste money.
Learnt Bayelsa too dey build despite Edo, Delta n Rivers having one each.
As we dey go like dis, after all states don get, local govt go start building theirs.

Today u can walk on the flyover without seeing any car

The idea of an airport in Abakaliki, a largely agrarian state does not make any economic sense with Enugu airport just a few kilometres away. Such funds could have been deployed to other sectors of the state. But largely I understand Umahi didn't perform badly in the area of infrastructure for the state

Ebonyi can export Agricultural Products from there and import heavy Agricultural equipment
