Chrs1996:
the Army general was vocal enough to state his loyalty to two distinct entities, the president, and then to the Constitution. If by any chance the constitution have been bridged prior to the swearing in of the president, you will agree with me that the General is legally mandated to uphold the superior entity, which as you stated is the Nigerian constitution.

I read a lot of meaning to the General's overstated response, and if I was Tinubu, I will be concerned.

Like I told you before, the president is a creation of the constitution. The Nigeria Army, another creation of the constitution is commanded by the president. Once the army is loyal and accepts the command of the president, the issue of loyalty to the constitution is settled. Tinubu can remove the COAS tomorrow and nothing will happen. So, why should he be concerned?

There is nothing like “if by chance the constitution has been breached” before swearing in. Once INEC declares a winner, it remains the position of the law until the final court rules otherwise. Even if there are truly constitutional breaches in the electoral process, it is not for you, me or the COAS to decide or act on. Me, you and COAS are legally bound to recognize only the winner declared by INEC until the Supreme Court rules otherwise.

Again, note that even if the Supreme Court ruled that the president wasn’t validly elected, the ruling doesn’t change the fact that he had served as the president and all decisions made while in office remains valid. Segun Oni and Chris Ngige are both former governors despite the fact that their elections were invalidated by the court.

Finally, there was no breach of the constitution whatsoever in the process leading to the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The PEPT and Supreme Court will affirm his election. He has absolutely nothing to worry about.

Nonsense! What is the meaning of the Army remains loyal to you and the Constitution. The Army should be loyal to the Constitution not the individual just because he is President.

And according to the Constitution, Bola Tinubu is the president and commander in chief of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. That’s why all the armed forces are loyal to him as their C-in-C. The only force loyal to Peter Obi is the illegal terrorist outfit called ESN/UGM turned obedients.

Well, I wouldn't say forget about that guy's statement due to loyalty. However, take it serious to know that the army is a biiitccch and loves attention. Tinubu as a Nigerian non-uniform C-in-C man should be careful with these dirty low-life opportunists, they messed Jonathan's administration cos they saw him as a scared civilian.

The attention seeking men in mimicked uniform always want relevance with the Nigerian populace. Reason they occasionally and frequently want to beat or fight the average citizens instead of a combat enemy..

We don't even need military security amongst our immediate communities.. So, what is the stress with politicians and these local big guns around us?.... Please, do away with them. They don't even protect us from external aggression!

Until INEC proves to the world that Tinubu won the election, he remains a fraud. No amount of copium would change that.

There is a vancancy for the job to do that in INEC currently, the job description is proving to the world that Tinubu won for the next years via all platforms of media. But it is a voluntary service. No pay.

The fact that they are saying this shows that there is something they are not telling us grin. I saw Tinubu ADC sitting down recently instead of standing up, this came on the back of the mumu old man's statement on democracy day June 12 saying he will not tolerate any 'illegal order' issued by the court cheesy

The army are watching him with one eye
that what is this old man saying, that you are bigger than Nigerian constitution shey grin

The walking corpse will soon be booted out of that Aso Villa by the court cheesy

whether there was a breach( ur correction was well noted) in the constitution during the Election proces or not, that alone is left for the election tribunal to decide upon(I consider the tribunal part and parcel of the election). You and me are expected to leave the final conclusions to them alone.

The only difference between any seasoned politician and the President is the powers the Nigerian constitution bestows on it(after satisfying ALL the constitutional prerequisites). In my own view, the powers of the military is trimmed to size by the country's constitution(if there was no constitution, then the military reigns supreme). To say the constitution created the Nigerian military may be an overstated declaration, rather, (in my own view) the constitution is there to checkmate the military and set restraints for it.

In ur statement you made mention of INEC twice, and the powers you felt it radiates. But without the constitution backing it and the law it is expected to adhere to, INEC is just a gathering of individuals with their personal motivations and objectives.

Peace.

Yahaya epitomizes functionally-illiterate Nigerian public officials…
There is NO oath of office in Nigeria that includes loyalty to the President.

The Nigerian president is NOT a monarch…
Accordingly, loyalty of public officials is ONLY to NIGERIA and the Constitution (see the Constitution’s Seventh Schedule).

Tinubu is not just the president, he is also the commander in chief of the armed forces

They are loyal to Tinubu and the Constitution while Tinubu is loyal to Nigeria

There is NO allegiance (or “loyalty”) pledged to the C-in-C (or President) under the Nigerian Constitution nor ANY law…
The Armed Forces’ loyalty oath (in line with the Seventh Schedule to the Constitution) is ONLY to Nigeria and the Constitution.

Nigeria is NOT a monarchy and thus the president is not a sovereign (nor an Emir, Oba, Igwe, Obi, etc.)…
Loyalty to the Constitution means that public servants (including the armed forces) could conceivably disobey illegal orders of the President.
