While I similarly think the idea of a “national carrier” is outdated…
The government nonetheless “pursued” the project to take advantage of our BASAs (currently underutilized by our flag carriers).

Trying to get around the outdated government-owned “national carrier” model…
The government opted for a PPP model, with private sector majority ownership and control.

And precisely because “our mismanagement and corruption would kill it”…
Government put out a global bid to attract competent management and capital (with Qatar Air initially being most likely partner).

Reality is that Nigeria Air is essentially a “vanity” project (that I personally wouldn’t have pursued)…
But so many of the hysteria and (to be brutally honest, crude) xenophobia generated is ignorant and uncalled for.
