The chief of defence staff then report to the MINISTER FOR DEFENCE, while the minister for defence report to the PRESIDENT. On any security matters reported to the president by the minister for defence the president then call in the N.S.A on action to take on the report and whatever its decided by the N.S.A and the president, will be transmit to the NATIONAL ASSEMBLY [IF NEEDED] So the NSA is not bigger than the service chief in any way

Service chiefs report to the president through the minister of defence. A lot of people are unaware but buratai blatantly refused to allocate a liaison officer to ONSA because of disagreement with Monguno and nothing happened. As someone correctly stated, the NSA can be as influential as the president wants him to be but NSA statutorily work with the three intelligence agencies I.e. DSS, NIA, DIA.

I believe even the armed forces military purchase after being signed by the respective service chiefs has to have final clearance by the NSA.
It's quite a powerful role because everything security especially purchase goes through the NSA.Any military equipment of whatever type that comes into Nigeria without NSA clearance is deemed an illegal arms purchase.
It's like a certificate that arms dealers everywhere in the world must see before they can send down any military or paramilitary security equipment.

I agree with you. He may not be service chiefs superior but his office is higher as the security policy of the country is issued through his office. So he gives the presidential directives on ational security policies from the presidency and enforce adherence, apart from the Presidential Security that's is under is office, all field and operational reports is given to him through the chief of defence staffs who is the direct superior to the service chiefs and passed to the president which he then advises the President on after indepth analysis for further action.

It is on the same level as Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).

One is responsible for investigation and intelligence. The other is responsible for action and fighting.

The CDS reports to the President and advises the Minister of Defence.

The NSA reports to and advises only the President.

The NSA is also a member of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) and National Security Council (NSC). The CDS is only a member of the latter.

That said, the CDS manages a larger body and has a much larger budget.

NSA is definitely above CoAS, CNS and CAS.
