The Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu, on Thursday attended the burial ceremony of High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, held in Agenebode, Etsako-East Local Government Area of Edo State.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Governor described late Dokpesi as an elder statesman, leader and worthy son of Edo, who, until his death, dedicated his life to the service of the people and nation.

Shaibu said, “Chief Dokpesi was a trailblazer who made significant contributions to the development of our country in various areas, including media, politics, and business.

“He was a true patriot who worked tirelessly to promote the unity and progress of Nigeria through the Peoples Democratic Party as a founding member.

“As we bid farewell to Chief Dokpesi today, let us also celebrate his life and legacy. Let us honour his memory by continuing the work he started and striving to build a better Nigeria for all.”

He extended his deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Dokpesi, noting, “May you find comfort and strength in knowing that he lived a life of purpose and left a lasting impact on our nation.”

Shaibu called on the people to use the moment to reflect on our their own lives and the legacies they want to leave behind, adding, “Let us strive to live our lives with purpose and impact, just as Chief Dokpesi did.”

Recall that Dokpesi, founder of Daar Communications, owners of African Independent Television (AIT) and RayPower FM, died on Monday, May 29 at the age of 71 at a hospital in Abuja.

The burial ceremony also attracted the Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, the immediate past Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and other dignitaries across the country.

One thing I admire about him is dat, he's not a political prostitute.
He's been a one party man right from when i started following 9ja politics.
As for death, people really underestimate it's pain when it doesn't affect them directly. U casually type RIP or sorry and that's the end of it for u.
It's only d people directly affected can attest to the kind of pain they pass through.
Is 2 months now since my Dad died and I know what we re passing through.
Emotional pain is the worst pain to experience
But we tnk God for his Mercy so far
RIP to u my great Dad and to u as well Mr. Raymond Dokpesi.

Death: the unavoidable end of Everyman.

All what we strive to acquire will outlive us, but the soul is what we should thirst to adorn with rightness with God.

The soul never dies.
