Nigeria is the 8th most terrorised and violent country in the world for a reason, its a country built on injustice

Where there is injustice, there is never peace

These people talk about 'UGM', Boko Haram, ISWAP and other armed bandits, but rarely will they talk about what is fueling the violence, or how to bring down violence to the barest minimum

I remember 2015 to 2020 when IPOB was peacefully protesting for Biafra. What did the authorities do? They shot and killed innocent peaceful Biafran protesters, locked them up, tortured them and subjected them to degrading acts

Right here on Nairaland, many people urged the Nigerian security forces to carry on with this human rights abuse, abuse of power and injustice. All they cared about was protecting their useless 'one Nigeria' and anyone who dared to question that unholy union should be shot down and killed

Even former President Buhari declared operation python dance in 2017 and sent Soldiers after IPOB, a group that at the time didnt even have common catapult and had no record of touching anyone. Soldiers stormed Nnamdi Kanu's house, and when he escaped, they said he jumped bail. Soldiers rampaged all over the South East, a very peaceful area with no armed group, killing people in the name of chasing Biafran agitators . They even went the extra mile of declaring IPOB, a peaceful unarmed group at the time that touched nobody, as terrorists

Well the peaceful protests have finally ended and have now been replaced by armed groups and violence. The government of Nigeria single handedly brought violence to the South East and caused all the problems there in their reckless bid to crush all voice of dissent

It is only in Nigeria that people expect peace to come from a mountain of injustice

Those who make peaceful agitation impossible, will make violent agitation inevitable ~ JFK

I had the same idea, the government seemed keen to create its own monsters, your last quote summarises the nigeria, Violence begets violence.

Any Nigerian supporting injustice is also injuring him/herself bc what goes around must surely comes around, if truly we need one Nigeria lets work and talk like one nation, I like ur story post about (MKN) but u forgot to mention that He is always ready to defend himself. The youngman talked when he was in dos and came down to nigeria for him to be arrested and he was in 2016. Court grant him bail and strip 7/8 charges against him. Why he was still enjoy his bail Nigeria men uniform invended his house and kill 28 without stating to discover any arm. Which nigeria court has ruled in favour of MKN tell nigeria government to pay him 1bn. After all drama mkn was arrest as the do it and bought back to nigeria and taking to court the dischargehim again in all the arrogation against him. FG still hold him. As a well mean Nigeria that meant well for our country. I dont see what the young man did since nigeria court can not convin him.

Why are Obidients the same people riling against this thread. I think it wouldn't be out of place also doing a little research on the nexus between IPOB, UGM, and Obidients.
They are the same. The IPOB propagandist metamorphosis into Obidients...the narrative of Obi becoming the messiah was one of the social media craze they promoted even though they knew he was a failure as governor...they used religion and ethnic sympathy and some feable, gullible Nigerians especially the thick lipped Mr Macaroni.

They all converted their display pictures on Facebook from Biafra flag to either LP flag or that of Peter Obi. One person controls over 20 different Facebook accounts or tweeter. They all opened their accounts between 2018 and 2022.

Their next propaganda is "Stolen Mandate" Even though Obi came third and never got the votes of the Yorubas and Hausas, they believe by promoting the "stolen mandate" toga and forcing the court by cheap blackmail using bogus blogger to write a favorable narrative that Obi won the election will weaken the already discredited Nigeria Government.

They blackmail everything that comes against Obi, they cried after the election and become so toxic when Obi lost... up till today many of them still cry daily, it was that bad. If Tinubu had lost the election, by now, many of us would have forgotten about it, because they have an agenda, a lot was lost losing the election.

With the behavior of the Igbos, no sane Nigerian should trust them with power. An Edo man or Anang...even Egbira and Igalas should get there ahead of them. I don talk my own ..These people are too emotional and clannishly crude to be trusted.

Name one Nigerian politician who is not of questionable character. We called them politicians for a reason. They ain't no Pastor or Saints.
001Lagos:

Tinubu is never and will never be the last hope for Nigeria because there are millions of good Nigerians that will emerge and lead Nigeria to the path of prosperity.

Tinubu is a man of questionable character. He's been bursted of drug dealings in Chicago united states which lead to his forfeiture of over $460,000 to the united states government. He's been fingered in massive corruptions and been dragged to court Many times for certificate forgery and other related offences which he wriggled his way out through the ever corrupt judges .

In a sane clime, Tinubu should be in jail and not aso rock but this is Nigeria where thieves are made king.

What is the connection between the pro-Biafran separatist terror group and an infamously vague but violent militia? Here’s what we learnt from studying hundreds of social media posts by IPOB-affiliated accounts.

No reasonable person has time to read this atrocious piece of junk from a very biased and benighted individual who obviously lacks intellect. His HATRED of Biafrans especially of Igbo-speaking Biafrans is apparent by his outright lies and innuendos. His quisquilian article is another example of how ignorant and naive Nigerians are and shows to what extent they are willing to go to serve the interest of their Fulani masters. I guess the nudnik who wrote this garbage failed to watch the interview granted by the FAT BASTARD and bloated pig from the creek who is forever looking for his own "pocketerial" interest, Ansari Dokubo. In this interview, he confessed to his involvement in fomenting insecurity in the southeast and other states including Plateau, Benue, and Southern Kaduna.

Uzodinma, Asari and Imo Security

Chinedu Opara

Before ex militant and agitator Asari Dukubo openly confessed to being in charge of security in Imo, you hardly could believe such was possible. This was because from ex Gov Achike Udenwa, down to Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, Imo state vigilante outfits were manned by indigenes of the state from top to bottom . The operatives were usually recruited from the various autonomous communities of the state, by Ndi Eze and town unions and trained by government and sent back as government recognized and paid local vigilante.

When Gov Uzodinma took over the expectation was that he was going to toe that the same path . However, starting from early to mid 2021, people began to wonder if the Uzodinma vigilante was really manned by locals. Their concerns and questions stemmed from the emerging notorious way the operatives were going about their task. They were going about unleashing destruction and mayhem in the state, leaving blood, tears and gnashing of teeth in their wake.

The Ebubeagu outfit as is well known came about as a response to rising insecurity. It was floated to tackle the challenge which government claimed IPOB/ESN was orchestrating. Imo people embraced the idea knowing insecurity is an ill wind that blows no one any good. But, they had thought Ebubeagu was going to work strictly in line with the laws of the land. In security as in other human activities, there are rules of engagement which conventional and unconventional groups engaged in security of lives and property work in tandem with. So, it was believed the Ebubeagu would subject itself to those rules.

But, regrettably after take off the operatives went berserk. They started invading Communities and villages, mainly in Orlu Zone of the state. On the heels of every invasion came gory tales of killing, maiming, burning of houses and other properties and lamentations of those affected. Slowly and steadily, the frequency, intensity and scope of the destruction and bloodletting kept widening, and soon reached alarming crescendo. And that gave rise to massive public outrage and outcry.

It was at the height of that seeming madness, that the rumour linking Asari Dukubo to Ebubeagu made the rounds. But it quickly fizzled out as it was perceived in many quarters as unfounded and baseless. How can a man from Rivers State be in charge of Imo local vigilante outfit? That was the question many, including myself who, heard that rumour asked.

You can now imagine the great shock i felt recently when i heard directly from Dukubo himself that he is in charge of securing Imo, and eight other states of the country.

Asari was a guest of president Bola Tinubu in the Aso Rock Presidential Villa. When visitors come to the villa journalists covering the beat normally engaged them to know why they visited. So when Dukubo came the media interviewed him. And as if he knew ahead of time that such encounter will take place and prepared well he wasted no time in launching into a long tirade He focused more on security and raised several issues. But, two stood out. They were his open accusation against the military of being behind oil theft, and provision of security to nine states in the country. Imo, Abia and Anambra were among the nine states he mentioned.

The revelation was a bombshell. It left many in great shock and stirred a controversy which, dust is yet to settle till today. Nigerians perceive Dukubo's revelation as a serious embarrassment to the country, because it seems a believable confirmation of the subsisting claim in many quarters that, Nigeria is a failed state. Experts in security tell us that when a state wilfully or as a result of incompetence hands over it's constitutional duties of protection of lives and property to non state actors, then that state failed woefully.

But, as Nigerians continue to dissect and analyze the issues as they relate to country, Imo people are busy trying to find out why Gov Hope Uzodinma did what seems the unthinkable by outsourcing an otherwise local business and handing same to a dyed in the wool enemy. As i said before vigilante business in Imo used to be a local activity, and that was perfectly okay because security like politics is local. But, Gov Hope Uzodinma for reasons best known to him, felt it should be contracted out and so, jettisoned the old system. And he opted for the ex militant as his contractor.

It's possible the governor chose that path with the best of intentions for his state. Perhaps, security experts around him put forward the proposition and he bought it thinking it would proffer effective solution to the challenge.

Of course taking into account the fact that insecurity is a societal cancer which everyone is susceptible to, it's likely the people themselves may not have worried too much about who the security contractor is or is not, as long as they are getting value for money. What stirred up the interest of Imolites in the trending interview of Asari Dukubo was his public admission that he is in charge of security of their state.

In view of prevailing circumstances of today, that submission is not only terrifying and perplexing but also seriously annoying. Any wonder it has rise to a frenzy of reactions, one of which is the demand being made on Gov Uzodinma to tell them why he handed over their security to a man whose hate for them could well be described as legendary.

Asari Dukubo is not only a staunch and unrepentant Igbo hater; he has used every available opportunity to openly confess to that consuming hate. And even more disturbing is his constant expression of readiness to wipe them out if he gets the chance. Who will say he or she didn't see how that unimaginable hate practically oozed out of every action and word the man uttered in his recent viral video, in which he brandished guns against the Igbo, and mocked them for being murdered as he put it "woto woto"

Dukubos's well documented anti Igbo antecedents to say the least, makes him the most unqualified individual that should be entrusted with even the most insignificant Igbo concern, not to talk of a life and death issue like security. Where in the world do people entrust their sheep and goats into the care of lions and tigers?

As we speak, the average Imo man or woman will tell you that insecurity has deteriorated dangerously under the present government. But, as we should expect, government officials and APC members have always disputed the claim. Facts, however, don't lie. As at today the facts and figures in the public domain lend credence to the former claim. Last May precisely on May 21, 2023, a reputable civil society organization, Intersociety released a mind boggling report on Imo insecurity in which it made many disquieting revelations. The group said between January 2021 and May 2023, a period of 29 months, security forces and allied militias killed 900 unarmed citizens, wounded 700, arbitrarily arrested and detained 3500, extorted 1,400, disappeared 300, burned down 1,200 houses, displaced their 30, 000 owners and forced 500,000 to flee to escape being shot and killed. This is in addition to the 700 murdered by armed non state actors like Fulani Herdsmen who also abducted 900.

In demonstration of deep seated anger over the seeming genocidal campaign Intersociety took further step, by dragging Gov Uzodinma and thirty one other retired or serving security chiefs to the International Criminal Court, ICC for investigation and prosecution. It has also followed that up with another petition to 29 world leaders on June 12, 2023.

It's said when a witch cries in the night and a child dies in the morning, it's easy to establish correlation between the two happenings. Can Dukubo as the non state actor in charge of Imo security wash his hands off the genocidal picture as painted by the CSO? Except apologists of the APC government, every sincere Imo man will tell you that the state has become a theatre of war. This suggests that those engaged in securing law abiding citizens and their businesses, are now fighting them and equally doing that with impunity.

You may hear the governor's followers argue that he may not have known that Asari Dukubo harbours flaming hate for the Igbo. Assuming that may have been true, now that his most recent toxic vitriol against Igbo has completely blown the lid off that emotion the governor must do the needful immediately. Asari Dukubo should be sacked and investigated alongside all other operatives and agencies intervening in Imo security. And if prima facie case is established against them after the probe, they should be prosecuted and punished accordingly.

For four years now Gov Uzodinma has kept sealed lips on the unprecedented mayhem that has become daily occurrence in the state. Those around him should tell him that this is one of the moments in which silence is not golden.

It's either he talks and acts now, or be ready to bear posterity's judgement on this highly regrettable security misadventure alone.

Sorry for quoting the entire post, but everything contained therein is relevant and a revelation!

You know i’ve heard this before….that Ijaws were ‘partnering’ with the federal gov’t on ‘security’ in the south-east states! It’s all starting to make sense now: all the staged attacks and false-flag operations! I didn’t want to believe it was possible and sanctioned for south-east state governors to be there and foreigners will be ‘contracted’ as vigilantes in the south-east region! I KNOW my kinsfolk and i know there are red lines we don’t cross, hence my belief that all those senseless and high-profile assassinations, kidnappings, torture and cannibalism….some of which were recorded and shared on social-media for maximum propaganda effect, we’re all the handwork of outsiders! I apologise to the Fulani for heaping all the blame on them….though i still believe some of them (herdsmen and Nigerian security personnel like army, DSS and police) are/were engaged in criminal acts in the south-east!

I believe it’s what Asari Dokubo has done and gotten away with in the south-east that is giving him confidence and making him feel so ‘untouchable’! I started having uncomfortable feelings about the Ijaw from about a year or so ago….prior to this, i was even supporting and happy to share the same country with them in any new country emerging from the carcass of ‘one Nigeria’….even to the point of dismissing the advice of many Igbo monikers who at the time warned that a newly emergent Biafra (or whatever other name it may go by) should not include the Ijaw as it would eventually turn out to be another ‘Nigeria’!

Enemies of Ndigbo have always found the Ijaw to be the go-to people when they want to attack or undermine Igbo interests….and this has been going on even since the uncivil war! The actions of the Ijaw stand in stark contrast to the unflinching and unalloyed support one of their sons got from the naive and forgiving Igbo when he twice ran for president!

You'll go through two pages of comments under a thread and realise most Nigerians never take time to read and digest the contents of any message, in details.

There's a part in the thread where it was clearly stated that sometime in 2021, Simon Ekpa was sacked from Radio Biafra, after which he went ahead to head a break-away faction from IPOB, naming the group "Autopilots". He even went ahead to declare that the struggle had deviated from peaceful protests to something that was going to be beyond control.

Any clear headed reader can easily surmise, that that was the starting point of the violence from UGM. And it is instructive to note that the authentic IPOB body already dissociated itself from Ekpa and his activities, having parted ways with him.

The real IPOB body which houses Radio Biafra with a social media followership of over 700K members, clearly has nothing to do with the violence of the UGM in the East. But the breakaway faction, led by Ekpa is the origin of this menace and that has never been hidden.

If Simon Ekpa does not have any political backing anywhere, why is it so hard for the Government of Nigeria to extradite him so he returns to face punishments for the crimes he has instigated and incited? How do you consistently spend money on treating headaches even after knowing your underlying illness is malaria?

You make good points, and i’ve equally wondered why the evil, despotic and conniving Buhari gov’t were so unconcerned, unbothered and unperturbed about the actions and pronouncements of the ekpa dolt the way they were obsessed with going to the ends of the earth just to capture and silence Mazi Kanu!

There’s TWO possibilities here: either ekpa is being propped up, backed and tele-guided by the hegemonic deep state and there partners in Aso Rock; or ekpa is acting of his own volition and is so dense and daft not to have realised he’s actually helping the anti-Igbo, anti-Kanu and anti-secession agenda of the aforementioned clandestine and malevolent group!
