"He asked us to sacrifice for country" - social media users criticise Tinubu over large-size convoy
Some Nigerians have criticised President Bola Tinubu over the large size of his convoy upon his arrival in Lagos on Tuesday.

The president was received at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos state; Femi Gbajabiamila, chief of staff to the president; Kayode Egbetokun, the acting inspector-general of police; and Nuhu Ribadu, national security adviser, after an official trip abroad.

On his arrival, the 81 Division of the army as well as personnel from the navy and air force mounted a guard of honour for the president. Videos circulating online showed Tinubu being accompanied from the airport by a convoy of over 100 vehicles.

The videos have elicited reactions on social media with many criticising the president for “wasting the country’s resources”.

After observing the Eid al-Adha prayers at Dodan Barracks prayer ground in Lagos earlier in the day, Tinubu asked Nigerians to make “sacrifices” for the prosperity of the country. Some Nigerians, however, argued that the numerous cars also involved convoys of other dignitaries such as the governor of Lagos.

While away, the president attended the new global financial pact summit in Paris, France. The two-day summit, organised by French President Emmanuel Macron, was convened to explore opportunities to restore fiscal space to countries that face difficult short-term financial challenges.

Nigerians must make sacrifices for the country’s prosperity, says Tinubu at Eid prayer ground

President Bola Tinubu says Nigerians must make “sacrifices” for the prosperity of the country. Tinubu spoke with reporters on Wednesday, after observing the Eid al-Adha prayers at Dodan Barracks prayer ground in Lagos.

The president said Allah would not burden the country with what it cannot bear, adding that Nigerians must live together with joy, without recourse to tribalism.

”I thank Almighty Allah for keeping us in good health till today and pray to Him to grant us robust health and prosperity,” the president was quoted as saying by Dele Alake, his media adviser.

May our sacrifices turn to prosperity. We have to make the sacrifices and that is clear, we have to. But Allah will not give you a burden that you cannot carry. He is there for us. We must have faith in the country. Have faith in ourselves, believing that as citizens of this country, we must join hands to build the nation.

No religious identity, no tribal identity, let us live with one another in joy and prosperity. Nigeria will see peace, stability and God will grant peace to those of us at the warfront.”

The prayer session was attended by prominent politicians, including Femi Gbajabiamila, chief of staff to the president; Nuhu Ribadu, national security adviser; Babatunde Fashola, former minister of works and housing; and Mudashiru Obasa, speaker of the Lagos house of assembly.

President Bola Tinubu assured Nigerians that the economic pains and hardships they were facing would soon turn to prosperity. They said the current pains were necessary, noting that the peoples’ sacrifices would pave the way for abundance and a better future for the country.
Did anyone noticed Tinubu never mentioned the ostentatious burgeoning class( which he belongs to) and the opulent life-living elites accompanying his on this jamboree to make the needful "sacrifice" but rather the downtrodden Nigerian "people"?

Meanwhile the "four legs good, two legs better"
gullible and dye-in-the-wool Orwellian era sheepie condemned to mental slavery are still defending them as usual.

Hehehe! Some of his avowed supporters have been lamenting about the removal of fraudulent subsidy( which he opposed many years ago) and the senseless vehicle occupant permit/tax drive his government recently introduced. Same Tinubu that supported all the evil policies of the catastrophic Buhari govt? Same man that led protests to opposed subsidy removal in 2012? Same people who instigate APC governors to rebel again the SWF leading to sharing which many of them used to sponsor Buhari disastrous 2015 campaign?

Same Tinubu that told Nigerians demanding for a change in the government of the nation in 2023 to "shut up"? The day the masses revolt against the burgeoning lifestyles of these wicked souls, that is the day they experienced true freedom.

It's his 'turn' to advise Nigerians on how to live their lives. After all his predecessor also used the same phrase.

Tribal Democracy will kill this country.
Yoruba people are defending him because it's their son, so even if the country is sinking they don't care.
This is the same thing the Hausa-Fulani did with Buhari.
I think we should continue in this pattern let's see where it will lead to.

The irony of the tinubu supporters is that most of them are extremely poor yorubas who trecked daily to work, drink mostly garri and groundnut on a daily yet come online with 10mb to glorify tinubus poverty policies.

Valid concern, but as usual, but it's betrayed with the usual misleading, misguided and disingenuous narratives. The convoy was a combination of the president's, governors, state government officials, party members and associates.

Wailing without brain cells or common sense is dumb and rettarded.

The Chicago drug baron just rode on APC structure as ruling party to grab power.
He lacks integrity & honesty & other personality traits of a leader to inspire Nigerians to make sacrifices.

Only people he can inspire are Tribal Bigots, Drug pushers & criminals to be smarter in committing crime.
He can only rule this country as a Dictator.

What's wrong with lovers of PBAT welcoming him to Lagos after being sworn in as president. Should his party members, friends, family and Lagos state government officials ignore his entry into the state? Has the governor not been receiving him any time he return to Lagos? Some of you haters are still having running stomach with PBAT ascension to power. Repent or you may miss the kingdom of God for displaying bitterness against God's anointed.

For those defending this outrageous convoy saying several VIPs went to the airport to receive him, that’s lame

There is no explanation for over 100 car long convoy for a nation that’s knee deep inside debt and poverty

Our leaders simply don’t have shame, a typical governor in Nigeria has over 40 cars in his compound, Matawale is an example, while his people are eating grass
