Refineries that were built several years ago are in comatose state as successive Governments have refused to get it fixed.
For God so loved Nigeria that he gave us oil freely and naturally but the Nigerian humans that should ensure the oil is enjoyed by its citizens won't allow the Nigerian citizens to enjoy it.
When Oyibo people say oil rich country that means the country is blessed and are sleeping with money as money is not their problem.
Take for example Saudi Arabia, the citizens of Saudi Arabia are enjoying the oil God gave them.Saudi Arabian citizens hardly work as their Government provides most amenities for them.
The best Doctors in the world are imported to Saudi Arabia because money dey and even the best footballers are currently running to Saudi Arabia eg Christiano Ronaldo.Saudi Arabia have alot of Refineries so nothing concern them concern fuel subsidy.
Currently in Nigeria all the Refineries have broken down and all successive Government have refused to get it fixed and I am sure people are working in those Refineries and are being paid for no work done.
Alot of people can nolonger drive their cars because of the exorbitant fuel price and people are even anticipating 700 naira per litre as from tomorrow.

I wonder why moribund refineries will continue to gulp billions.

Things that happen in Nigeria should be added to wonder's of the world.

That is what they want and they have achieved it but it shows it is an evidence of a failed state.

So u think fixing refinery would reduce costs of petrol?

Sell those refineries to the highest bidder simple with the condition that if you don't get it running at least 75% in 5 years government can take it back without giving u a penny

Sale the steel plant with same condition

Government have no business in government

partly through but Government cant take its hands off totally as they are doing now.If they leave it for private individuals totally then its citizens would suffer. They can also regulate prices.

fixing will certainly reduce the cost as we don't have to import the products.

Government of less than one month has made everything to skyrocket in less than one month but no modalities in place on how to fix its refineries.

How do you have maths to back that up?

Your cost of production is $27 per barrel some countries are as low as $8

So they can sale crude oil to their refinery at $21 per barrel n out compete you

The only thing fixing our refinery would do is strengthen the naira not reduce fuel prices

Economics is not about emotions

Who do u think would invest in business where government determine the price? Only corrupt government officials through back doors would

Allow market forces determine a fair price

Billions of dollars used in importing will be saved when you have your own refineries. Nigeria can now be an exporter and also make foreign currency.

Bros what they meant is saving foreign exchange

It's obvious cost of refining in Nigeria would be higher based on scale

There is absolutely no Guarantee refining here would make it cheaper

Is cement cheaper in Nigeria?
When we imported cement it was cheaper

Is local rice cheaper now?
