Have you heard of these sayings: "Yoruba is Yoruba", "Yoruba are one"? Of course, you probably have. So, then, we ask: "are these sayings really true or just mere slogan?"
How you choose to answer the above questions is up to you, but before you answer the questions, let's talk about Yoruba Socio-cultural organisations.

Firstly, what is a socio-cultural organisation? A Socio-cultural organisation is defined as a group or association that aims to promote and preserve various aspect of society and culture.

In Ile-Yoruba (Yoruba-land) today, there are two types of Socio-cultural organisations:
1.) The pan-Yoruba organisation such as Agbekoya, and Afenifere. All Yoruba are allowed in these organisations.
2.) The pan-Yoruba-muslim organisation such as MURIC and MUSWEN. MUSWEN stands for Muslim Nation of South West Nigeria. These organisations exclude other Yoruba, but welcome non-Yoruba muslims.

The pan-Yoruba socio organisations have every Yoruba members there, but the pan-Yoruba muslim ones are for muslim only. But if Yoruba is Yoruba, then why would they need sperate Socio organisations?

Surely, the recent saga we witnessed in Illorin, the degradation of the Yoruba tradition witnessed, should not only be enough wake-up call for the Yoruba, but to also get them asking if the "Yoruba is Yoruba" they have been hearing is actually true or just mere slogan. But will they wake up? Will they ask questions? Time will tell.

This isn't the first time these so-called Yoruba will do something controversial. On Nov 2022, the former Executive Secretary of MUSWEN, Daud Shittu Noibi, one of the many so-called Yoruba who don't even have Yoruba surnames, warned his fellow muslims from south west against supporting South West Christians and Traditionalists.

He said: "I have for a long time unshakably been committed to promoting muslim unity up and down the country."

He continued: "Nothing should be done to stop or reverse the growth of that unity. At this Juncture, I should draw attention to the special danger posed for us, the muslim of the south west." Referring to Other Yoruba as special danger.

He continued: "[They] poses a big dilemma for the muslim of South West. Allah direct us to be bound by the Islamic brotherhood." In other words, their alliance is to Islam (and other muslims) and not to Yoruba (and other Yoruba).

The recent saga in Illorin have shown that there are two Yoruba. Now that the second Yoruba have declared their land for muslim-only, and accompanied their declaration with the degradation of Yoruba traditions, will the first Yoruba ask themselves if the "Yoruba is Yoruba" they have been hearing is true or just a mere slogan? Time will tell.

Is Ilorin the only Yoruba enclave in Kwara state? And also, Ilorin is worth more than 1000 villages in Kwara state as an ancient kingdom and old history before the Fulani conquest
