GOV'SHIP TRIBUNAL: UNIUYO SHOCKS TRIBUNAL WITH 3 STAFF HAVING SAME IPPIS NUMBER

.....parades promotion letters of witnesses without University letter head description

In these days of doing extraordinary things to get Guinness Book of Records reckon, the University of Uyo may just be on the way to the book though negatively all things being equal, all in a bid to cover up for a respondent (Mr Umo Eno's ) alleged falsification of results to fraudulently graduate from the University.

The institution has so far brought three staff, all witnesses on Subpoena to the ongoing Governorship election Petition tribunal sitting in Uyo with the same IPPIS number.

The staff include: Theresa Inokon, Assistant Chief Security Officer, Nse Okon Udo, a principal Security officer and Daniel Akpan, Administrative Officer 1all on Subpaoena by the tribunal.

The obvious manipulations by the University of Uyo is sequel to an earlier testimony before the tribunal weeks back by Mr Daniel Akpan, an Administrative Officer 1 with the Registrar's office who told the tribunal that he was assigned by the then Registrar, Mr AniediAbasi Udofia to treat the file of Umo Bassey Eno and provide certified true copies (CTC) of documents therein in his file at a time for those that applied for it having paid the necessary fees as is expected and he did.

Akpan had also told the tribunal that his life was under serious threat by unknown persons who called to threaten him not to testify at the tribunal but he had to honour the tribunal to come and testify given that he was on Subpaoena.

What however stunned the tribunal Tuesday July 11, 2023 was the submissions by Theresa Inokon and Nse Okon Udo both staff of the University of Uyo during cross examination by counsels to the petitioners led by Tunde Folola Esq.

Both of them posited that they have the same IPPIS number as that of Daniel Edet Akpan who had earlier testified before the honourable tribunal. IPPIS is an accounting platform adopted by the office of Accountant General of the Federation to effect payment to employees of different federal government institutions .

It was also revealing that both Theresa Inokon and Nse Okon Udo tendered their promotion letters of the university without the letter head description of University of Uyo.

Subpoenaed Witness Nse Okon Udo admitted that his statement on oath was written for him by his lawyer and called to sign in the morning at the court premises just before commencement of proceedings Tuesday July 11.

Earlier, the University of Uyo Bursar, Mr Jacob Eseneyen, also one of the Subpaoened witnessses while being cross examined by the petitioner's counsel told the tribunal that he did not bring his Certificates to justify his qualifications to the tribunal which would have enabled him provide evidence at the tribunal as expected and the petitioner's lawyer wondered why as he claims to be a forensic Analyst.

It was on that premise that the petitioner's lawyer submitted that Eseneyen could not competently ascertain a forged signature or otherwise given his submission that Daniel Akpan's promotion letter was allegedly forged.

Curiously, the two staff alleging impersonation or forgery of staff IPPIS numbers are security officers in the University attached to the office of the Vice Chancellor, Prof Ndaeyo and one wonders how Daniel Akpan, among numerous staff of UNIUYO will single them out for forgery of staff numbers.

This is a confirmation to an intelligence received by the petitioner, Senator Bassey Albert, CON since Sunday July 9 and is in public space to the effect that the Vice Chancellor has directed that every staff information concerning Daniel Akpan, be wiped out from the University records, forgetting that there are records that the Federal government is still paying Daniel Akpan his salary as a staff of the University of Uyo. It may also confirm the alleged huge finances expended by the respondent, Mr Umo Eno to assuage the University of Uyo management to cover him up in the scandal now known as Umo Eno gate.

At the tribunal, Mrs Theresa Inokon was asked the time she noticed that another person was using her number, she said that she was told by the University and when Nse Okon Udo was thrown the same question, he said he was told by his lawyer this morning at the tribunal.

Despite the alleged forgery of their numbers, the witnesses are still receiving their staff salaries without any breach which certainly would have been a resultant effect of that forgery. Pundits say the Vice Chancellor, Prof Ndaeyo has reduced the University to an institution where anything goes and may affect the credibility of degrees obtained from the institution before employers of labour .

The pefitioner's lawyer Tunde Folola Esq had complained to the tribunal of frequent interjections by learned silks, Paul Usoro and Offiong Offiong while he was cross examining the witnesses .

Appearances at the tribunal include : Offiong Offiong, SAN for INEC, Uwemedimo Nwoko, SAN for Umo Eno, Tayo Oyetibo for PDP, Tunde Folola Esq, Adeola Esq for Senator Bassey Albert and Ini Utuk Esq for YPP

Respondents formally closed their case with the tribunal directing that INEC should formally file their written address on or before 6th August, 2023, second respondent not later than 26th July, 2023, and 3rd respondent same 26th July, 2023.
In the same vein petitioners have up to 26th July, 2023 to file their written address.

The tribunal also declared that petitioners will have upto 7 days to ensure their reply not later than 5th August, 2023.

The three man panel led by Justice Adeleye had adjourned to 15th August, 2023 for adoption of written addresses by parties before a date is taken for judgment.
