If GEJ really mean business back then. No amount of protest would have made him return the subsidy.

For this single act, I've Personally vowed to love President Tinubu for life, regardless of the fact that I'm being hit by its side effects......But one thing is so certain, and that's the fact that nothing good comes so easily without any sacrifice....

Was he not the same person that sponsored protest against the same subsidy?

Yep....the thing is, politicans have to think of the next election. Removing fuel subsidy totally...would have meant N150 and above for fuel prices in 2012, which means that PDP gets voted out in 2015 in a mega landslide.

(One governor in the Southwest once sacked excess workers in the civil service. It was a bold decision, a brave decision, but he got voted out, his successor hired all the sacked workers again, and paid them salaries...result..by the time Aregbe took over, it was becoming difficult to pay the full salaries...so...partial payment. Chickens came home to roost).

Not just GEJ...all our leaders from Gowon to Buhari part 2 were not bold enough. Even Abacha did not remove subsidy.

That Nigerians are tolerating Tinubu removal of subsidy is just silence of the grave. Kenya that had subsidy removal in the first 24 hours of the new president some months ago is now seeing protests against the government.

Stop blaming Nigerians for GEJ failure, he was a coward. And funny enough, someone from a region you guys regarded as cowards are taking the bold decisions now. GEJ was an ineffective and weak leader who had no balls, he was bereft of ideas and political will to do anything progressive.
No leader will backdown on subsidy removal when more than half of national revenue goes into subsidizing petrol, but because he had no balls and Nigeria was making alot of money from crude sales, he chicken out of the decision, easy pissy, it wasn't his idea originally, he was advised to do it. So it was easy for him to exit the idea as he was not sure of himself or what he was doing.

Not really because he never meant to, the timing was wrong.
It was during holiday, everyone was at home so there was enough idle hands to protest, coupled with the party(PDP) not protecting their flag bearer (GEJ).
Opposition find a good time to showcase themselves.
Cash crisis is even worse, but people were at work trying to find a way around it, if the crisis started during holiday, it could have turned to something else if the opposition played their game right, but they covertly supported it, so they were in a tight corner in pushing the masses for a protest

If they have allowed GEJ to remove subsidy in 2012 by now we should be looking at N300 NNPC price.

Do you know the weird thing about Nigerians? The suffering they endured under Buhari and they are willing to endure BAT they won't endure it under GEJ or any Igbo man as President. A lot of people enjoyed under GEJ yet they tagged him an Igbo man and cursed the hell out of him. As if na Igbo man spoil Nigeria.

Imagine it is obi that is dishing all the policies Tinubu is dishing, by now there would be massive protest in lagos. Is how we think it’s alright for a siting president to remove what he was against years ago. No ideology and principles.

Smiles, Bisi Akande, still my best Gov for Osun State. A friend that his dad lost his job then always get angry whenever I praise Baba Akande.
I see no reason why Osun should have more civil servants than Oyo State, it makes no sense.

GEJ still raised fuel price from N65 to approx N90 /litre, he just never hike it to the N120 he originally proposed.

Pls explain this to people that subsidy was put in place for in the first place, people that were poor and subcessible to hunger, now they are dying.. Funny how some people care about no one else as long as they get their own piece of the pie.

Yeah, very true

But the truth is, most of GEJ's predeccessiors had the same weakness. Even someone like Abacha , who was a strongman , did not remove subsidy when he was in power. Because he knew that meant protests.

Tinubu removing subsidy has more to do with the fact that most of our oil revenue is going into debt servicing. He literally has no choice.
