Why slap the boy because he didn't do house chores? That's abuse.

Both the killer and the killed are wrong

Unfortunately for the killer, He's going to jail.

So, he should have handed him over to the police abi?

Why do you people always justify or cover up evil with unnecessary excuses? There is no justification for killing even if his master flogs him.

Times are moving on. Just as there isn't any justification for killing him, there is no justification for beating him because he didn't do his chores, when an easier route would be telling him to go do it or return an errant child to their parents.

Currently, there is a very very thin line between beating an erring child and abuse. You see those things we watch in movies where the cops are called when a child is beaten? It is just around the corner in Nigeria, already rooted in the education system.

We either adapt or learn the hard way.

Lesson: Do not take people to help them just out of pity or based on their look without checking their background and upbringing.

That's Ebonyi people for you. Fulani Igbos they are. Very violent. They're everywhere now in Anambra. Their parents 'migrated' to Anambra as lowly farm hands. Some of them were employed to live in the boys'quarters and oversee their masters' houses and compounds. Now those masters were either abroad or living in faraway townships. Unfortunate how badly and wicked the children of those peasants have turned out. Their parents were easy going and made no troubles. Their children are loud, wicked and aggressive. They live among kinsmen. They speak our dialects. We don't discriminate against them, yet they are full of envy and jealousy.
Chima might have been hit from the back as he made to leave after slapping the boy because there was no way, face to face, that boy could have beaten him to death. The boy had been nursing the idea of killing the young master
Very sad indeed.
Hope justice will be done.

Why do you people always justify or cover up evil with unnecessary excuses? There is no justification for killing even if his master flogs him. There are more better peaceful options he could have employed to explain himself to his master or leave if he can't cope with his boss. This is one of the vices in lack of respect to elders in the first place, if the boy has respect for his elders, there is probability this type of crime will not have happened.

If it were in Yoruba land like Omokiri used to say where respect is condoned, respect this boy has for his master might have prevented this type of crime, but since you no dey bow or respect anybody in your own culture, then; be ready to leave with its consequences. Only having respect for elders covers up many evils. There is no justification from any point of view for what the boy did to his elders because his master slapped him[/quote

Did you even read his final submission?

And just so you know, nothing like respect in yoruba land. I have lived in Abeokuta before, kids there won't even greet you and will call you by your name. Yoruba kids only greet their yoruba elders and I'm talking from experience.
