How do you create a nationalist totalitarian state. It's simple. First you create a hero, then you show everyone the hero. Then you create a horrible villain. You throw the villain into the faces of the people and you paint him as the ugliest, meanest, baddest thing alive. And when the people are almost at their wits end, you reintroduce the hero to save the day. The people will worship and do whatever the hero says.

I pity those who think Baba has any power or grandplan. He's nothing but a ignoble pawn. And he's about to run out of screen time. I trust the cables wisdom. But I shudder at what they will use President Obi to do.

It is important to inform Nigerians that despite having shown readiness to commence work in the Committees, the federal government which convenes the meetings is yet to inaugurate the National Steering Committee, thus stalling the work of the proposed Committees. If the federal government had wanted an expedited action which Nigerians want more, the best approach would have been to quickly inaugurate the Committees and allow them do their work but as we write, nothing has been done except the continuation of the borrowing spree and subsequent allocation to themselves.
