Happy July 27th in advance to all Easterners.
We will celebrate many more years of this.
July 27th marks an important day, the day Samuel Ajayi crowther arrived Onitsha and introduced Christianity and education to the easterners.
Today southeast is among the most educated tribe in Nigeria and very religious with Christianity being predominant. All thanks to Samuel Ajayi Crowther

Below is a piece of what he wrote regarding Onitsha, he met the people there scantily clothed and uncivilized. They were idle and uneducated.

why didn't you quote the whole write up. Onitsha and Obosi were still fighting in 1857.

Lol, slave dumped in Freetown and joined British missionaries now claiming credit for British exploits. How about igbos that joined British expedition to the North?
You are free to showcase their exploit. Nothing stops you from doing it. Let us celebrate those who performed excellently well

Calm down. No need to feel your ego is dented. Ajayi crowther really helped west africa and even as Igbos we should be proud. Same way Yoruba aknowledge Azikiwe is father of Nigeria.

No need to let this new knowledge burst your tribe. Moreover it encourages more outsiders to visit SE.
Is the way you said it the same with the way yorubas are saying it? British helped Africa, indegenous slaves from all tribes joined British in Freetown after the end of slave trade. Yorubaland had no edge over any other place before colonization

Okay. But take note that Azikwe's father set up Zungeru as Capital of northern Nigeria, and they later moved it to Kaduna

It is good to know that. Try to expatiate so that we can learn. I thought he was a railway worker how come he was able to do such?

You just exposed yourself. If you read that part you used as evidence. It was said that there was already a scripture reader and Mr Taylor introduced Cassava planting even before Crowther came to Onitsha.
Based on this how on earth did crowther introduce education to the east? You guys don't know how to lie walahi.

Lol. Yoruba didn't need much civilization at the time Ajayi Crowther returned. Yoruba were clothed with their aso oke and adire which have got several designs/styles and also, they had their several cuisines to eat. So they had civilization already.

On Christianity, The insignia found with the Yoruba such as the Solomon knot which represents divine royalty more or less depict the Messiah smiley, even as the Hebrew/Jews have got same knot too. Also, Ifa calls the Yoruba Omoluabi which means the children of God. In fact, Ifa's belief is in christianity itself. Ifa believes in one God called Oluwa Olorun Olodumare who's got a begotten child which is his word. That's Christianity.

Aside that, Ifa is also an an educative platform which comprises civilization, science, technology, creativity etc, apart from also containing the history of the Yoruba race. In fact, the Yoruba were already involved in metallurgy which includes copper works and bronze works, they also had several musical instruments, they were also heavily involved in several creative designs such as beads, arts, fashion etc and were already calculating mathematics and constructing pavement roads and so-on before the Europeans came.

That being said, Ajayi Crowther did return to the Yoruba and helped them a bit, it was just that the Igbos needed him more at that time. I mean what would be the point of teaching Yoruba's cuisines to the Yorubas such as akara, Iyan, egusi, eba, elubo, fufu, Garri, apon, moimoi etc when the Yoruba already know these, considering these are Yoruba cuisines? So, the Igbo needed him at that time.

You be real Ode. So going to Lagos is civilization? I thought it's a sign of people's land being unproductive? Confused mugu. What do we need Lagos for in those days? The British were already here since 1840s and Onitsha was thriving with a British River port. The only thing that brought us to Lagos was almagamation, that was when Lagos had advantage as capital and people moved there. And we arrive before yorubas (apart from indegenous villagers)
From data below, Igbos started migrating to Lagos in 1911 (Aro Confederacy which controlled Igboland was defeated by British in 1902) while yorubas started migrating to Lagos in 1931.
You must be daft by using migration to Lagos as a yardstick for civilization. Do you think Lagos was better than places like Calabar and Onitsha before the amalgamation?

The same Lagos that Yorubas exported slaves from for hundreds of years is what they migrated to in 1931?

Or the same coastal city from which they imported weapons for the Yoruba wars?

🤣

Also you compare Lagos to Calabar or Onitsha?
🤣

You should start comedy!

You realise Lagos alone, was made a Colony.
For Britain to think it worthy of being a stand alone entity shows it was not a jungle like you so desperately claim.

This is Olaiya house, built in 1855.
There were also many buildings like this in that Lagos.

Mind you the British came after.

...and they only took Lagos after a Naval bombardment with Warships.

You only use that much firepower when your enemy is worthy.

So the Igbo needed him at that time. Yoruba also needed his educative wisdom too, as a Yoruba linguist & some other basic amenities. Anyways, same Igbo insult him today despite all what he did for the Igbos.

That one is even relatively very recent

Apart from the Yoruba Awori being the Owners of Lagos including Lagos Island and Isale Eko itself

It has now reached the Stage for people to Start learning the Yoruba moba
Pre Oduduwa History of Lagos
Which is. Incredibly Massive

This is a good opportunity to reteach them including the Epic Yoruba History

Do you know there were moba Yoruba people in Lagos long before Oduduwa was born they had their own Kingdom
And the moba crown predates Oduduwa's own

If we tell them a little of the History of Yoruba Lagos if they have Conscience they will Shut up and beg for Forgiveness

There were Yorubas in Lagos long before Oduduwa was born
The first Oba of Ilesha (Owa Okokun ) fetched water from the sea at moba to Cure Oduduwa’s Blindness in the 10 th Century

moba is around Victoria Island
The moba crown Predates Oduduwa’s own it was some of theirPeople that Migrated to Otun Ekiti some are in Ijebu

The 9th Century 160km eredo Wall near Ijebu and covering both Ogun and Lagos States was part of their Kingdom that reached the Sea and Many Islands off the Coast of Lagos

most of the time they are Categorised with the Awori
but though they are now part of the Awori they were in Lagos Centuries Earlier

it was the Pre Oduduwa moba King called Seniade who idol Worshippers deified as Olokun
Oore of Otun Ekiti is one of his direct descendants.
The Island he ruled from off the Coast of Lagos has now been submerged by the sea
And that was why his people moved to moba

If you see Ancient Yoruba Artifacts in South Africa from before Oduduwa was born Just know that it was moba People who took it there .
They ruled over a String of Islands and were experts in Travelling between Islands in the Atlantic Ocean

Can you see that if you think the History of Lagos Started with Oduduwa in the 10th Century you have not yet began

Sungbo eredo Wall the unesco world heritage site was built by the Yoruba moba Pre Oduduwa People of whose Kingdom reached the Islands off the Coast of Lagos

Yoruba History is a God Given Epic
