Have you ever considered why you're not getting the expected results in your farming business? A lot of farmers have not optimized the hidden treasure in farming with compost. What is compost?
Before explaining further, as a poultry farmer, the major thing that stands between a day old chick and eight months table size chicken is feed. The size and quality of table size chicken grown is dependent on the quality of the feed given to the young chick.
Let's bring it to plant. Do you know that soil is just a structure that suspend plant. Today plants are grown in water without the soil. A lot of soil lack nutrients and if when available is not sufficient. When you're planting without providing nutrients source to your plant, the result you get based on the soil residual nutrients will not guarantee a good returns on investment.
Do you know that big time farmers in the north understand the usefulness of compost in farming? It might surprise you that quality products like tomatoes you see in market are products of compost farming not fertilizer. In kwara state where I stay, there is always trailer shipment of pig and chicken faeces to far north for compost making. They buy one bag for #1000.
What feed is to chicken is what compost is to plant. Compost is well decayed plant and animal materials that bacteria and fungus feed on to release Nitrogen, Carbon and other nutrients needed for plant growth.
This thread is all about compost farming. Stay connected.

Have you ever heard of compost industry or company in Nigeria ? Personally, No but it exist in foreign countries and are foundation to agriculture. One can set it up here and become employer of labour with rewarding profits.
Composts are processed, packaged and sold to farmers at an expensive rate abroad. For those asking for business idea, here is one for you

Let's start converting waste to money. Our major problem is that we don't think. Wealth start from the mind. What are you thinking about at the moment. Leave politicians alone and start thinking for yourself and future

A lot of people have called me with complains that their plants were not growing but rather remains stagnant.
In most cases, I noticed the nature of the soil did not allow easy root growth and penetration.
My dear, if you're planting anything you have to get it right from the beginning. Dig a big hole that will be covered with only compost, by this way you have fast root growth and penetration.

if rain falls on top of this, wouldn't it leach away the nutrients into the ground ?

It is done in a covered area as you can see in one of those pictures, or in container for personal use, like one of those plastic drum. Nylon or tarpaulin can also be used in open area so as to get quick access for turning with a shovel. You still need to water it sparingly and turn them from time to time. The materials decompose faster during the dry season. I want to believe what you see outside in the picture are the finished products, sun dried of any remaining liquid to make them light for bagging.

If you leave it in the open, it's going to take like forever to decompose even without rain.
