WEAK MINDS

Ah! my belly is full,
I am amazed at how gluttonous and hungry we have become
we have big round bellies we never had
we were hungry and full when we came in
but see how glorious and weak we have become

Ah!, who can resist the scent of the Naira?
Who can tell the naira begone so that I will look upon you from the window of my white villas and crave
or I will resist you and keep my integrity
so that next line of us will smile home with theirs and mine
so that my constituents will insult and abash me for resisting the minty scent
because I prefer to build that bridge in that village of ten
because I prefer that road or power for that villager who sees me once every four years when I come to buy his future with a loaf of bread

Ah! tis good
my children have the ivory towers in all sections of the world
and will take over from me when I set for the highest post in the land while they occupy the lower,
Ah! my bank overflows with raw mint for I know that when the day of reckoning finally comes if ever it does, my foreign partners will receive me with open arms and broad faces
and when it is finally settled on who wins the scuttle,
I will return and claim victory for democracy.

Ah! democracy is sweet.

Just my Wild thoughts
