Nigeria is gradually being balkanized and people are not even seeing it. If things continue at this pace, it will be a miracle if this country doesn't break up. History has shown that there is no country where guerilla forces emerge in different regions that doesn't end up breaking apart. India/Pakistan/Bangladesh, Ethiopia/Eritrea, Sudan/South Sudan, Yugoslavia, Bosnia etc. Examples abound.

SE has a standing army called ESN.
SW has a standing army called Amotekun.
SS now has their own being set up by Asari dokubo. In all, the 3 Southern regions each now have a non state army or standby guerilla force.

The North isn't excluded as well considering that NE has Boko Haram and Ansaru.
NW has Fulani herdsmen. It seems only NC is without any militia of sorts. This was exactly what happened in Bosnia when the Serbs and others began raising armies and stockpiling weapons, the people of Srebrenica and adjoining areas remained docile. When full blown hostilities broke out, the UN couldn't protect them and the people were almost wiped out.

Is this the beginning of the end for Nigeria?

Let me show you the bigger picture that most short sighted people don't see. What happens when the private and regional armies grow as strong and big as the federal military, what happened in Russia between Russia military and the Wagner force will be a child's play

Some of these armies are backed by the government e.g Fulani terrorists and Asari Dokubo private Army. Regional army are easier to control for dirty jobs than national army.

Nonsense talk, Amotekun is a vigilante service, states can even have state police.

Difference between a vigilante and a terrorist militia like ESN is that ESN terrorize local igbos, kidnap, kill indiscriminately, and burn down police stations. It's about the actions being carried out by the group, ESN is the only terrorists group among the list you put there.

Nigeria government only actively resisted the SE armies of ESN

They didn't hold resistance to SW amotekun or the Northern Nigeria armies of ansaru and Boko Haram

In asari Dokubo army, they equally kept calm
