The suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mr Godwin Emefiele, has been re-arrested by the Department of State Service DSS at the premises of the Federal High Court, Lagos.

Recall that DSS earlier in the day, arraigned Emefiele on a two-count charge of illegal possession of firearms.

Trial judge, Justice Nicolas Oweibo, had granted Emefiele bail in the sum of N20 million and a surety in like sum.

The judge had also signed a warrant for his remand at Ikoyi prison, Lagos, pending when he perfects his bail.

Daudu raised the alarm about the DSS’s alleged plan to re-arrest the embattled former CBN governor despite the bail granted him by the court.

As the defendant’s lawyers were trying to perfect his bail conditions, a mild drama played out within the court premises between DSS operatives who are fully hooded and NCS over who will take custody of the embattled CBN boss.

The secret police challenged the prison officials who moved to take Emefiele into custody and it led to a tussle.

Two Hilux vehicles belonging to the two government agencies were directly positioned near the entrance of the courtroom.

The prison officials then exited the court in their vehicle and the DSS reportedly took Emefiele out of the courtroom into their waiting vehicle.
