Algeria supports the actions of African countries to restore the constitutional order in Niger

Algeria follows with deep concern the developments of the situation in the sister Republic of Niger and strongly condemns the attempted coup d'état taking place there.

Algeria reaffirms its commitment to the cardinal principles that guide the collective action of African States within the African Union, including the categorical rejection of unconstitutional changes of government.

Algeria urges an end to this unacceptable violation of the constitutional order and this serious violation of the requirements of the rule of law. It stresses the imperative for all to work to preserve the political and institutional stability of the Republic of Niger, a guarantee of lasting peace and stability in this brother and neighbouring country that faces considerable challenges in a region, already facing multidimensional crises of unprecedented acuity.
