The 31st March 1913 was an historical day in Ibadan land and in the annals of educational development when the first secondary school for Ibadan was founded. This is Ibadan Grammar School having Bishop Alexander Babatunde Akinyele as the first Principal and Founder.

And were these schools founded by Yorubas?
Would the fact that Lagos served as the administrative capital have any bearing on the list drawn up so far?

I am beginning to think the ethnic jingoism of Nigeria's youth is like an insatiable appetite that simply knows no limits.

St. Theresa's Minor Seminary, Ibadan.....1901

Catholic secondary school for boys (with an eye for priestly vocation)...definitely the oldest privately (catholic mission) owned secondary school in Nigeria that was never taken over by government....still a historical wonder to behold. Located on Oke Are hill in Ancient Ibadan.
