Why Was Ojukwu Compelling Bendel Ibo Chiefs To Rewrite Their History ? by DomPerignon: 9:13am On Aug 12, 2023
One of the least discussed events of the civil war was the brief occupation of the then neutral Midwest by Biafran soldeirs who will later arbitrarily declare Midwestern region as an independent state of Western Benin Republic and impose an Ibo man as its head of state.

During the occupation, the then misguided Bendel Ibos were naturally sympathetic to Biafra owing to one of their sons leading the first coup and the blowback Bendel Ibo officers suffered during the mutiny of July 1966.

Seeing this misplaced sympathy in place,Ojukwu invaded and occupied Midwest because the bulk of men and officers of the Nigerian army stationed in the Midwest were Bendel Ibos.

Not stopping there,Ojukwu wasted no time trying to get Bendel Ibo chiefs to rewrite their history from being originally from Bini Empire to Nnsuka , Enugu.

Most of the Bendelite Ibo chiefs refused to bend to Enugu trying to rewrite their history and many Bendelite politicians and elite saw this as Enugu trying to colonise them by rewritten their history.

Doubts began to creep in and the majority Bendel Ibos began to see the Ibos from across the Niger River attempting to colonise and absorb them into Biafra and using their common Ibo language as a gimmick to get a foothold into the Midwest.

Resentment from other non Ibo Bendelites began simmering and exploded after seeing how some misguided Bendel Ibos aligned with the Ibo invaders against them.

After the Biafrans were ejected out , there were sporadic ethnic clashes targeting Bendel Ibos but these were quickly brought to a halt. Some Bendel Ibos fled across the Niger during these tense times abandoning their properties. The reinstated military govt of Midwestern Nigeria did not waste time reintegrating Bendel Ibos back so much so that a voluntary donation from civil servant salaries were deducted to provide funds for Bendel Ibos who suffered from the brief ethnic skirmishes. Abandoned properties of Bendel Ibos in places like Benin and Warri were managed by the state and all back rent paid to those who fled to Biafra on their return after the war.

Since then , the average Bendel Ibo has vowed never again to be decieved by any fake love or ties to those across the Niger who they share only a common language.

You have been revisiting and rewritten history for too long with your lying narrative .

It's time to set the truth to light and shut your mouths forever on.

Even ebonyi has already backed out of the union. You trust those cannibals at your peril. We are talking about a tribe that is permanently bitter...maybe bitter that God created them at all who knows!

You mean the same Bendel Igbos that the Nigerian Army massacred in cold blood at Asaba?
