Anambra State Government Celebrates 2023 International Youth Day, Harp On Productivity And Sport Economy Development.

In line with the Prof. Chukwuma Soludo Agenda of building a livable, prosperous smart mega homeland, Anambra State Government has decided to go extra mile in celebrating this year, 2023 International Youth Day in Awka in a grand style.

The event which was organized by the State Ministry for Youth Development in collaboration with Anambra State Sports Development Commission took place at Township Stadium Awka and featured 6.5km walk and run for life, aerobic stretches
and light refreshment by Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo His Wife, Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo , Chief Of Staff, Ernest Ezeajughi, top government functionaries and hundreds of Anambra youths representatives from the 179 youth organizations and communities across the State.

Speaking to the teaming joyful Anambra youths shortly after the exercise, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo commended them for their peaceful conduct and understanding, noting that being youthful is a state of mind. He advised the youths to eat healthy and exercise dirty."
He also asked the youth to shun hard drugs, cultism and criminality noting that nobody lives long, indulging in criminality.

He enumerated his administration's efforts in the youth and environmental sector including the one youth, two skills initiative, and the coconut and palm revolution among others and went further to state that there are ongoing plans to revive sporting and sports activities in Anambra schools and beyond and vowed that Anambra will soon become a destination point rather than a departure place.

"As we mark today’s event, we remind ourselves that our youths are not just for tomorrow, they are much more for today. We must do all we can to provide them with opportunities for service for the growth and development of Society, he said."

He announced that soon, the Anambra Solution Football club will be unveiled and added that by the end of September, those who took part in the one youth, two skills training will be empowered.

The Governor assured Anambra Youth that with Solution Innovation District which has kicked off already, the emerging Solution Fun City project which will kick off shortly and also sited close to the Awka Township Stadium, Anambra will become the biggest entertainment, innovation, technology leisure hub in West Africa.

Also speaking, the Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba and the Chairman Anambra State Sport Development Commission, Mr. Estate Onyedum stated the program was initiated to celebrate the youth across the globe. They noted that the state government innovation on the run and walk for healthy living is to drive home the message of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and called on Anambra youths

Contributing, the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) Chairman, Chikelue Iloenyosi while commending Governor Soludo and the Chairman Of Anambra State Sport Development Commission for providing security and sport facilities to enable sport activities strive in the state expressed happiness for their support to help reinstate Anambra State in the hub of sport and football in Nigeria. He affirmed that more sport programs with be initiated to continue to boost sport activities in Anambra, thereby engaging the youth positively in other to discover more talents and reduce crime.

Lending her voice, the Anambra State Coordinator National Youth Service Corp, Mrs. Iruma Blessing while acknowledging the specialty of the day stated the youths are the backbone of any country, noting that their strength, resilience and dedication can drive major positive change in the world. She commended the Anambra State Government for investing more in the youth, noting that the foundation of any state is the education of its youths.

"We acknowledge the vital role that the youth play as the backbone of our nations and rely on their power, strength, resilience, and dedication and potential to change, mend and drive positive changes in our lives, across the country and the globe in general, she said."

Mrs. Iruma advised the youths to engage their creative ability and entrepreneurship skills for personal development and for the society. She affirmed that Anambra NYSC will continue to create the right drive to make things better, easier and successful for corp members during their service year in order to build a better country

In his separate remarks, the Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Felix Odumegwu stated that the role and contributions of youths to the advancement and development of any society cannot be over-emphasized. He noted that Governor Charles Soludo is providing an enabling environment in the State for the youthful population to thrive in creativity, innovation, and in business as he employed the distribution of palm seedlings and technology innovation and development to secure the environment and generate both personal and state revenue. He urged the youths to embrace the opportunity given to them by Anambra State Government in the One Youth Two Skills Program to be self-reliant and employers of labour.

Other key government functionaries who participated in the celebration includes; Secretary to Anambra State Government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Ernest Ezeajughi , Principal Secretary, Chief JC Anieto, Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, Head of Service, @Barrister Theodore Igwegbe, MD/CEO Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, Hon. Osita Onuko, Awka South Council Chairman, Hon. @ThankGod Anagor, the chairman enforcement committee on law on prohibition of fraudulent practices on land and property Awka south local government, Prince ikechukwu Ndigwe, National and State Youth Leaders and other members of Anambra State Executive Council.
