Nland kids telling African leaders to flex their muscles on the West, as for now the West still has all African lleader'sballs. If China can feel the heat of the West sanctioning, who is Nigeria or any African nation? Either drug scandal or not PBAT will need to bow to the USA pressure bcs it only takes the US to stop buying crude oil from Nigeria to bring Nigeria's economy down on its knee. The drug case is not a threat in an International political sense. It is only left for PBAT to apply sense in returning democracy to Niger. This Niger junta has pulled the wrong strings, I can tell you that they are in panic mode right now 1 Like |

Democracy, as we were told, is the government of the people, by the people and for the people. Maybe the definition has changed in the case of the Niger Republic. The Nigeriens have declared their support for their current government, which other democracy are USA and ECOWAS talking about? Tinubu must not yield to this pressure, unless he is another puppet of the states. The USA are pure hypocrites and conscienceless opportunists. 1 Like |

LagosFirstSon:The Guardian's headline writer is as illiterate as the OP who posted this without bothering to read and comprehend the actual article. Where is the "pressure" the US is supposedly exerting on Tinubu? The following certainly doesn't provide any evidence of "pressure", if anything it indicates the contrary. Yesterday, for the second time since the coup, United States Secretary of States, Antony Blinken, again commended President Bola Tinubu’s leadership of ECOWAS and reiterated U.S. support to back the bloc’s efforts to restore constitutional order in Niger. How is Blinken phoning Tinubu to commend him evidence of "pressure"? The OP and all the other îdiots jubilating about this clearly have a poor command of the English language, as "pressure" is something you put on people to do things against their will, and Tinubu clearly needed no external pressure to oppose an act of military thuggery that sends the wrong signal to over-ambitious soldiers all over Africa, including Nigeria itself. The only "pressure" mentioned here is the one Tinubu and ECOWAS are applying on the Niger coup-plotters, and that pressure is clearly working, given the complaints being made by the insurrectionist soldiers themselves. 1 Like 1 Share |

Tinubu's greatest mistake would be allowing US and France push Nigeria into war with Niger. Ask yourself this 1. What does Nigeria stand to benefit from a war with Niger? 2. In who's interest is this war going to be? 3. Would this war justify the economic and humanitarian crisis that would result should they start a war with Niger? Tinubu and ECOWAS must not allow themselves be pushed into a war that would only safeguard the interest of the WEST. The west wants continues access to uranium for their nuclear weapons and ofcourse the safety and security of their military bases in Nigeria. Do not throw West Africa into more crisis. We are already suffering enough |

Pakute: Bro, stop this madness. A war in Niger is not good. Not in our interests. We have nothing to gain from it. It is a war between Russia and France and USA. They want to do what they did in Ukraine. Fight a proxy war. The region will suffer. Can't u see that northerners don't support it too because they know they will be hard hit. Come on, what is una problem sef? All northern governors and rulers are against it, are they also Obi supporters? A war in Niger will distabilize the region. We would fight and lose soldiers all because of USA and France interests.. Go and read more about that issue. It is purely internal affair and the people of Niger should be left to fix it. Even national assembly is against a war with them, many clerics and prominent Nigerians have all spoken against it. Plssss, make una dey get sense. That war is a proxy war that the USA and her France friend wants to use other countries to fight. |

In as much I dislike interference of foreign powers in Africa affairs. On this issues in Niger for restoration of constitutional government. I support US because illegality can't be appearing legal. Getting power through guns is tantamount to armed robbery, if Nigerien Generals interested in power, they can resigned and contest for their choice offices. 1 Like |

Taylor90: Indebted ke? In your hurry to just post anything against this government, you left vital cranial matter behind you. Nigeria is for the first time pursuing its strategic leadership in West Africa with clear goals - mainly economic. Nigeria has a $13bn gas pipeline going through Niger that terminates for export in Algeria. Gas will replace crude as Nigeria's major export earner. Niger ( under its detained President) overlooked France, Russia and the US to do a three country - country project and you cannot understand why we want that Presidents return? In what part of your mind do you see Nigeria allowing Wagner forces to interfere with the gas project when the project is intended to replace the Nord stream Russia- Europe gas pipeline? In what part of your mind do you think that Nigeria will ally with any country when Nigerias policy is to be the dominant west African power. Is Nigerias greatest opponent within the region not France? Can your mind not expand to understand that the enemy of my enemy is my friend? ( at least for now) You keep on pushing out intelligence destroying contributions simply because you are too lazy to do any heavy mental lifting that goes beyond some election that most people have moved on from. The future is not waiting for you. Siddon there. 1 Like |

Pakute:Everything is not IPOB, this and that. President Buhari told the whole world that the reason for so much inflitration of arms into Nigeria was as a fall out of Libyan war. Imagine what will happen if war breaks out near our border. The first thing man reacts to in any event is self preservation. Those you call IPOB wants to be alive first. For once imagine the amount of deadly weapons that will end up in wrong hands before during and after the war. Imagine the merceneries that will filter into the country to cause more mayhem. Sometimes, lets be rational. It's becoming childish already. Where was USA and ECOWAS when military took over Burkina and Mali??. Why do they want to start war at our doorstep?? Why Niger |
